I just sold my last AMD board recently to make the switch to Intel so I don't have another board to test it in. Perhaps it's just the motherboard that's the problem not the cpu but I don't know, at this point I'm thinking I could raise hell but I don;t think it's worth it over a crappy asus board anyways. The REV. 1 M5A99X-evo boards have a reputation for being faulty.

When I press the power button everything comes on for a split second then shuts off. When I reset the PSU via the switch on the back then try again it does the same thing every time. I have stripped the case apart looking for any possible shorts and haven't found anything indicating a short as of yet. mad.gif

I said it does NOT artifact in demanding games like BF3 or Crysis. they said ok ship it to us. It was delivered monday to them says UPS I called yesterday to check the status and the guy said it doesn't show they received it. He says it usually takes 4-5 days to show they recieved it....What? What a joke.
But I kept my cool and just asked if they could make sure the problem listed is in the computer so they don't just say its good and ship back. He looked and came back to me and said ya we show the notes say it artifacts in demanding games like BF3. I told them no I never said that. I even included a note in the box of my problem and they still get it wrong. I told him to correct the info and he did.
So hopefully I get mine back fixed, but I doubt it. I know they will just run a high end game and see its fine and ship back. I swapped out for a gts 450 and SC2 and new vegas run fine.

PM your case numbers to me please.

I called again today....finally got them to confirm they have my card but no updates on issues. also, I asked if the notes on my problem have been corrected. He said " it looks like your having artifacts while playing high end games." OMG!!!! I told him no for the 10th time I am NOT having issues in high end games its intermittent issues/artifacts in starcraft 2 and new vegas. He then said "ok sir I have put that in the notes." Ya I heard this several times before.....

I payed money for a card that is never gonna be fixed. Looks like im stuck with my old faithful GTS 450. redface.gif

I usually rave about Asus but IDK anymore....

This is possible but it doesn't matter, the amount of bad stories about their RMA process and department itself are enough to start bringing down their sales. It won't be long before someone high up starts seeing all the complaints and he/she won't be very happy.

Agreed, the amount of Asus RMA gone bad threads on here alone are proof. Thanks to Grunion for updating my RMA notes, but I still don't have confidence the problem will be fixed on my GPU. The problems I have had already, indicates to me a lazy department and thus I will bet my last dollar it will come back with the same issue.

Even if I can get my motherboard replaced I doubt they will replace the fried CPU. While my mother wasn't using her computer I tested the cpu on the M4A785TD-V EVO it has. I the CPU in question is an AMD PHII 925. Not worth much but it's still a decent cpu for my backup rig. Anyways when I went to turn on the computer the system flickered on and held steady for a moment the keyboard lights flashed indicating it was booting up then it just shut off. I tried this several times and even after a reseating it still would do the same thing. It's official, that motherboard killed my cpu. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

That M4A785TD-V EVO is a good motherboard That was my first "real" motherboard and it ran an unlocked 555 at 4.0Ghz 24/7. tongue.gif

Edit:
That 925 was supposed to be going in a folding rig after awhile too. cigar.gif
