Xbox boots but dosent load the firmware help pleas ? :/

Thread Starter
Hey guys, i have an xbox 360 slim that since the last update dosent work no more, heres what happend. i have a really bad hdmi cable, so the image of the xbox some times cuts off the tv from time to time. anyway so i was installing the new update for the xbox 360 when my younger brother turned off the xbox thinking it was on for no reason since at that time the hdmi decided to cut off and there was no image. so pretty much the xbox 360 was turned off during firmware installation. So now when ever i boot the xbox it turns on and every thing but i get no display and reason for that is that the xbox seems to not find any firmware. when i boot the xbox from a wireless controller the xbox turns on and the 4 lights on the controller blink. i tryed doing the Y + RB button thing but nothing happens and i even tryed with a wired controller. i also tryed with a different power brick and nothing as well and of course i bought a new hdmi cable. so after most my test i resulted with the conclution of a erased software. could it be that xbox dosent have like a back up for does kind of situation ? and is there something i can do to fix it.
i called xbox support and i have to send it to them for a cost of 150$... the price of a new one.

So any idia what maybe could be the problem ? and any idia on maybe fixs ?
like manual installation of the firwmare
i was thinking of puting the promp or bios in a reader and then installing firwmare like that .

also this is the 4Gb console with the integrated memory card,

bad news my friend, your console is more than likely bricked.

the FW you are referring to is a SW Kernel update, and if the console is turned off during installation (and does not come back on the first reboot), it is done for good. I worked in an Xbox lab for MS, and we have seen many a console go down this same way. There is no CONSUMER fix that I know of.

Since you worked there, can you clarify the rrod problem? Some say that it's because they used lead free solder, which is less durable and is making micro fissure and causing the rrod.

The primary issue is that the CPU and GPU are not being cooled adequately. This can result in various effects that eventually end up with a nonworking console; it isn't just one effect, like you've listed.

Can you elaborate further? Because i would like to know if it's a heat problem, why you need to "reflow" the console which mean heating it up to make it work?

Reflowing can fix another of the effects of overheating the CPU and GPU. After the constant cycling of temperature beyond how hot it should be, the connections can get brittle, and prone to breaking. Another common effect the overheating has is warping the board slightly. This effect can facilitate the breaking of the connections, which will result in a RRoD or e74 type of error. A reflow allows the connections to be reestablished by heating them up to the point of effectively melting back together.

fixing rrod can usually be done easy with just taking out the x-brace and replacing it with washers and machine screws.
i've done this, the post should be here somewhere on ocn, but my work is over on this external site http://incagaming.com/video-games/console-mods/28-xbox-360-rrod-e74.html

i still need to put a cooler chip on the ana chip. i used this as is for about 3 days of heavy gaming and then one day the video started to look glitchy and it spit out a e74 error after rebooting.
so once i get around to adding a cooler chip to the ana it will be fine to use.

Since it bricked your xbox360, the only way that i think you could get it back working or un-brick it would be to manually flash it with the original firmware of the manufacturer drive. It's not allowed to talk about how to do it because it's against the TOS. Even if the reason is legit :/ Google is your friend.. tongue.gif

I see thx for explaining it's clearer now but unfortunately for my phat xbox360, i don't have a heat gun nor torx required to "re-flow", i just leave it on 24/24 and when there is a power cut, i use the overheating method for booting it up. I wonder if it would be worth re-flowing tho.
