ASRock X79 Extreme 11 Owners Issues & Hopefully Fixes - Page 101

Guys,

got this really weird issue on the AE11 now.

I just reinstalled Crysis 3 - hadn't played in a while so I fired it up and while I was playing the game froze - no biggy - was trying a good OC.

I restart the computer manually and my LSI adapter says "Cannot Start (Code 10)".

After panicking for a bit - I disabled it in Device Manager and then enabled it again and it works. However, when I restart the computer - not always - but most of the time - the LSI adapter doesn't seem to work! The yellow triangle shows up in Device Manager and I have to Disable/Enable to get it to work.

Last night, I flashed the firmware to the latest and reinstalled the drivers (12/04/2013) and thought that should fix it but today, I came back and turned the rig on and the same thing! mad.gif

Any idea what's the cause of this? And, how do I fix it? Is it hardware or software related?

Btw, this happened immediately after installing the new beta drivers (337.50) and installing Crysis 3 - the game crashed and after reboot, this freaking LSI thing seems be playing poltergeist.

HELP!

I had that, but only after upgrading to win 8.1 Update 1 about 2 days ago.

I was also having some strange behaviour like black screens, so i checked all the cabling (which there is heaps of) and made sure everything was plugged in tight and realised some cables were actually loose (cpu power, and cables on the power supply).
That sorted out the odd behaviour.

There was also a disk error on my first drive plugged into the onboard that might be interfering with the controller initialization.

Did a chkdsk on it.
I then did a new install of win 8.1 x64 and got all the updates immediately, and it doesn't have the yellow mark for the onboard LSI controller.
The 9207-8i worked fine.
Using default win 8.1 drivers.

So now its all good with no strange oddities. (fukn computers....)

Hmm. that's strange.. so it wasn't really a hardware issue (the actual LSI Host-Bus Adapter)?

I ran a CHKDSK as well on my 8-SSD RAID-0 array and there were no issues.

Btw, when you upgraded to Win 8.1 Update 1, was it like a 'fresh OS install" or were you able to update directly from your "regular" Win 8.1 installation?

The thought of reinstalling EVERYTHING freaks me out. I HATE installing and configuring all the programs I use - it takes over my weekend...

and also turn off eset device control if you use it. I think it has something to do with it.

I was using an install that was a couple of months old then did the update, and things went west.

I then checked the cables, did a new install of win 8.1, then did all the updates including update 1 and its all good now.

With the chkdsk, i used the /R flag on 1 of the problematic hd's that had previous bad sectors.

I installed the intel chipset v10.0.13 drivers and the latest intel ME drivers V10.0.0.1204 (default win8 work but i like to use intel optimized drivers)

I too used the CHKDSK /R as well. I also tightened the cables - it boots fine now so hopefully it's all good.

By the way, do you have a link for the latest Intel chipset and ME drivers?

Also, was your Win 8.1 Update 1 install "in place" or like a fresh OS install?

Currently running 8.1 update 1. Never had a problem with my LSI controller with eight 512GB Vertex 4 drives before or after the update.

It was probably a combination of problems, but everything works as it should now.

Hm... Why am I getting choppy video playback on my GTX780, but when I installed a ATI radeon x300 from 2008? the video is smooth...

I don't get it... Right now, I'm using the GTX780 on my main monitor for gaming, and the Radeon on my TV for video playback...

NVidia cards don't play well with different cards installed. They all have to be identical chipset cards. AMD cards don't give a hoot and will bond with any other cards installed regardless of chipset or make/model.
You can put different AMD cards in and an NVidia card as well as long as the NVidia is used for Physx and is independent.
You can't do it the other way around. One small advantage of using AMD
