ASRock X79 Extreme 11 Owners Issues & Hopefully Fixes - Page 119

Did anyone here experience an issue like the board not turning on again at random, sometimes for little time and other times for quite a while?

Aha, hope it is the thermal protection causing you the headaches!

You mean when you push power button, machine would power on briefly then shut down, then power back on itself after a few seconds? If that is the case it happens to me once awhile.

If you are talking about pushing power button but nothing happens at all, that never happened to me.

cheers,

Unfortunately not. It just doesn't turn on anymore for a while out of nowhere. Then after a while it turns on again like nothing's happening.
A friend of mine that has a repair shop told me it's a design issue with certain Asrock boards of that time, happened also on a Z97 he got from a customer, it just comes out randomly.
We tried troubleshooting but we found nothing so it's the same symptom but with a different cause compared to the other board he worked on....I'm wondering if I can find some info to make his work easier once I send him the board for the repair.

Oh that sucks. Sorry can't provide much help. Hopefully it will be an easy fix but kinda tough to identify what needs to be fixed, with limited info. Good to know such issue can potentially happen on this board. Will keep an eye on how mines behave....

Cheers!

Hi.

I dont know if anybody else had this issue, but i'm getting very low boot speeds with my ssd.

I'm using an samsung 840 PRO.

My Older mobo was a asus rampage extreme iv, and the difference in boot time is enormous.

Tried running from a formatted and recent installed windows, without anything pluged in the USB ports, but it didnt do any difference.

What could i be doing wrong ?

If you are using the built in LSI sas/sata/raid controller and/or sas drives, it will boot up 1 drive at a time, and it takes "forever" to boot, also there are a few fastboot options in the bios you can turn on.

I had to retire my Asrock X79 Extreme 11 today as the USB3 controller on it failed about two weeks ago. I plugged a china made mouse into one of the rear ports, and sparks, computer shut off and no more USB 3.0....

Lovely. Been a reliable motherboard for years, now I've replaced it with a Asus P9X79 pro motherboard I had laying around, and a LSI 9210-8i sas controller. It works, and I have USB3 working again.

Oh... and I did try four different plug in USB3 controllers (PCIx 2x) but none of the would work. I disabled the onboard USB 3.0 controller but no joy...

^ sorry to hear what happened. That really sucks. At least you have an LSI card. I start to think about how to migrate the LSI raid if my mobo decided to retire one day (knock on wood)....

cheers!

I had to buy that LSI card, found it on Ebay from china for 68$ including shipping. Brand new in the box. I have to say, so far, it's been both faster and able to handle multiple disk writes/reaads at the same time without slowing down...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/122294994036

On a positive note, I no longer have the need for a motherboard fan.
