ASRock X79 Extreme 11 Owners Issues & Hopefully Fixes - Page 47

post #461 of 1199
This is the settings i use.

  • Then under Speaker/Headphones section adjust Bass Management to you liking. I use Bass Redirection and Subwoofer gain with 167 Hz crossover, YMMV
  • Then in equalizer i adjust each frequency band to adjust for any weaknesses in your headphones. Play sounds of the game your adjusting for in the background to get your perfect sound toned in. I just play some gunfire from BF3 off youtube while testing each frequency band.

Did you go to control panel--> sound--> and set up your mic in there. You should be able to see it in the recording tab at the top. select it and make sure it is pointing to your headphone mic. You can also test it while your on it by right clicking on it and test it. There may be more than 1 entry. 1 for your headset and one setup for your optical connection. Make sure that your headset is the default. It should give you that option in the right click drop-down box as well. Make this device your default. If your headset is not plugged in then it will use the other but will change back immediately once you plug in your headset again. Once you have defaulted it you can double click on it and adjust the settings so the record volume isn't up too high.

New installation log;

1. Wouldn't even power up unless i pulled out the battery, did a cmos clear via the 3 pins, then put the battery back in, pressed power button on mobo and disconnected pins for the case power button and other case cables.
Have replaced the battery now but have not done a cold power up yet or reconnected case power button cable.

2. I think my case is shorting the pins for the HD LED, Reset Switch and Power Button, couldn't get it to turn on, may have been issue related above - currently using mobo power button / reset button (inconvenient).

Performance log;
Seems to have MUCH slower ram speed in aida64 than the Extreme9, same CPU speed. (odd).
SAS controller sometimes takes ages to get into windows, i put this down to disk checking using it's own process (after a BSOD from wrong overclock settings). Otherwise an extra 30 seconds to get into windows, but dont care as long as 12HD's and 3 SSD's work properly.
Core3D DSP is adequate but not as good for music as the TitaniumHD, needs tweaking still. See if PAX has a tweaked driver for it.

Preliminary CPU/RAM stability and benchmarking currently in progress.
Yet to run any 3D benchmark with 3x 4GB GTX 680's (titanum is a ******* rip off).

  • Created this system based on many single drives of various sizes and full time 3 way sli with a 4th vid card for extra monitors (it's the only way to get 4 monitors displaying and extending the desktop)
  • Not having an expansion slot for titanium HD, have had to resort to onboard sound.

The memory issue, it is running much slower than the extreme9, and the bios settings are identical.

Perhaps the bios needs a compatibility update.
post #465 of 1199
What ram speed are you running. I have 3 different sets of 2400 G-Skill 64Gb (RipjawsZ, RipjawsX, TridentX) and it would not go beyond 2133 in XMP mode with all the earlier and latest bios installed. What I ended up doing is putting all the ram into my RIVE M/B and setting it up with XMP. I then took screen shots of all the settings for each set and I took them out and put them back into my X79 Ext 11 board. I set all the clock timings to what I recorded on my RIVE and voila it works great now at the 2400 speeds. I don't know why the ASRock bios won't set properly to XMP 2400+ but it does that and that was the only successful work around for it that I have found so far.

Yer just fixed the issue earlier, sorta the same problem with XMP.

It didn't set 4-way and 8-way memory channel interleaving, so i manually enabled those 2 and it's now back to what it was on the EX9.

It's all working good, been stressing it quite alot this last couple of days, looking for a weak spot (did find one so far, not enough VCore - my CPU just does not work with the presets VCore).

My mushins run perfectly at 2400mhz in
there XMP profile with latest bios

What CPU OC speed are you trying to hit? And which CPU? I would NOT use any of the preset OCs, they have the VTT voltage set dangerously high. It's best to start from scratch on your own.

Fill out the "Put your rig in your sig "so we can know what you are working with. Link is in my sig.

Some bad news

mad.gifmad.gifmad.gifmadsmiley.png:madsmiley.png:madsmiley.png

The mobo died this morning. I went and made some toast for breakfast, walked back in the room after 5 minutes and the pc was toasted as well, it had turned itself off and i was like...no reason for that to happen. Thought it would be the cpu or a vid card or something smaller and more convenient - a dead HD, ram, vid card not a real problem, but the mobo no no no no no no no no no no...

the cpu was at a measly 4.2ghz with 0.080 offset.

ive been extensively testing using the extreme11 and extreme9 boards, with a bread boarding setup.

the extreme9 works with the cpu with a venomous x heatsink, 2 sticks of ram on A1 + B1, gt630 low end for display to 1 ordinary monitor. it turns on and gets to bios.

the extreme11... it doesn't even turn on, and i connected 4 LED case fans in the headers to see how far the power is traveling around the board. after 1/10th of a second all 4 fans flash then nothing.
so power is shorting out somewhere, and i have noticed that near the atx power connector, the board flexes and it sounds like that area is micro fracturing with all the crinkling sounds.
Might be a dead ram slot on A1 or B1.

Looks like it will be sent back to the shop , gonna have to reinstall the EX9 and go back to 2way sli and less HD's until it gets replaced. I'll hang out on here for any suggestions to possibly fix it.

Just finished piecing my EX9 back together, turns on and boots into bios immediately, no bull****ting around, cost half the price.
