So here we go.
I decided to make a new build and ordered everything that i needed. Received it, putted it together, was quite happy but then the nightmare stared.
Its the Asrock Extreme 11 MBs LSI chip that just doesn't want to work. When booting the webbios doesnt show up with ctrl-h option, tried everything in UEFI.
But when booting into Windows 7 x64 the Mass Storage Controller shows up in device manager. When installing drivers for LSI chip from Asrock site, LSI Adapter, SAS2 2308 Mustang - StorPort is being installed but during driver installation through device manager it gives (Code 10) error, saying Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. Also would like to mention that i have tried to update firmware anb BIOS of LSI chip in comand promt with Administrator privileges and in DOS it says that No LSI sas adapter found.
Help would be much appreciated.
Hello - please search my earlier posts - I had a very simmilar situation - during a brief period when the LSI controller was showing up during post - I was able to ugrade the firmware and bios on it but in did not help.
I assume your LSI chip overheated like mine did (every time you update the uefi bios the chipset cooler settings reset to defaults - which are too low) - the fan needs to work almost always on full setting to cool the chipset, LSI chip and the PLX chips - if you got careless and did not notice this in time - this is the result.
The only option is to RMA the board - mine got replaced very fast by a german store - they didn't even wait for the Asrock central service in Holland (for europe) to roplace it.
The new board works flawless (and so does the LSI chip). Now looking for some way to watercool it (nateman does some blocks for it, MIPS did but they are out of business - I ordered my set too late).
Hope this is useful for you in any way.
