ASRock X79 Extreme 11 Owners Issues & Hopefully Fixes - Page 59

With the latest drivers installed. The sound sometimes gets digitaly distorted and wont go back to normal until the system is rebooted.

I wonder if this is a driver issue or something that can be attributed to the overclock.
I have had this happen to me a couple times also. The sound will distort and volume will increase & get stuck in a very loud setting and volume adjustments will not work. Only fix is a reboot like yours. I thought my sound chip might be going bad, but it could be driver related if this is happening to other people also.

Great. Good to know I'm not alone in this.

Your confirmation possibly narrows it down to a driver issue.

Even though I love building custom systems, it makes troubleshooting a headache. When the motherboard has a waterblock, with heavy watercooled videcards and the cpu waterblock all creating tension... I was just hoping it's not one of those factors causing this sound issue.

Was having the "no controller found" message in Win 8 Pro x64 (reboot didn't help). Uninstalled the MGM V12 (5.3), restarted machine. Installed V13.01.04.00 (5.6).

Almost forgot - IMPORTANT - make sure you go "RUN AS Admin" on the Setup

Issue resolved. Looks like V13 is a MUST UPDATE if you use the MGM in Win 8.

Download link (just click Supports & Downloads): http://www.lsi.com/products/storagecomponents/Pages/LSISAS9217-8i.aspx

Also found the new Windows driver V2.00.63 and P16 Firmware + BIOS when I was on the site. Will also give the new driver & firmware a try here.

UPDATE: updated to V2.00.63 windows driver, P16 BIOS & Firmware, all seems working fine. Happy computing!

Peace,
jack
I have the same problem. In mine m/b, when the LSI link speed is set to GEN3, the LSI controller is dissapeared. BUT when I set it to GEN2, everything is working fine. I also did a firmware, BIOS update and MSM 13 with latest drivers from LSI site. The problem persists. GEN2 is working, GEN3 is not. I am thinking to RMA this board. ASrock's reply was just a joke:
"Please reinstall CPU and use jumper to clear CMOS and load BIOS default for try.
If the symptom still remains, please contact local distributor for further physical check."
Do you have any suggestions that may help?

If you flashed the controler and the problem persists - you have to RMA the board.

Confirming I had all the PCIe set to GEN 3, everything works fine. You probably had it checked already, but I would double check the LSI option in BIOS to ensure the chip is enabled. Would also try disabling the LSI boot option to see if it would make any difference.

Sometimes resetting the CMOS could help so do give that a try with default BIOS settings anyway, won't harm. But based on what you are telling us, sounds like you may have to get a new board.... good luck!

Peace

I also wanted a block from nateman as well, but also did go for a mips block but with full custom cooling,... If amyone is interested. This is the link to my TH10 Caselabs built.

I still can't get him to say whether he expects to be done in 30 days....or 3 years. It's been frustrating. I still would like the blocks if they ever get done.

Interested in his build. That's what he meant. Take a look. That build is out of this world.

I had already seen his build, it really is out of this world! Great job.
