ASRock X79 Extreme 11 Owners Issues & Hopefully Fixes - Page 9

Found some time to re-seat the memory (8x4GB Ripjaw Z @ 2133) in all 8 DIMMS. Have to say I got extremely lucky in the first place. Because after swapping the DIMMs between the two sets of 4x4GB ram. Machine would not even boot up. (I should mark the RAMs so that I don't mix up the two sets) Dr Debug shows code 67 which indicates it gets stuck at the PLX initialization stage. This happened when all ram settings are set to auto to run in 800MHz only.

Swapped the rams back to the original position. Machine would post again. So I have to say I got extremely extremely lucky when I first installed the ram sets in the working order!

Enabled 4.2GHz Turbo profile now. Manually entered the stock CL9 timings for the Ripjaw Z 2133. Set RAM clock speed to 1600 for now. Ran Prime95 briefly for an hour, seemed running fine. Stopped it as cores temp seemed too high.

All 6 cores idle between 56 to 60c, while CPUTIN shows 46c. Prime95 core temp hit 85c with highest 90c, while CPUTIN shows 67 to 68c. Temp seems a bit high compared to those with Antec 920 cooler running @ 4.5GHz. I'm only running @ 4.2GHz.

will try to reapply thermal paste to see if it helps

peace,
jack

^ Eeeeee 90c! Thats scary! What voltage are you running at? Definitely higher than normal. Might be time to get you a nice water loop to go with that nice board you got. You can put the loop to the CPU and put a fan towards the VRMs for now until someone comes out with some motherboard blocks.

Also show us what you are working with by putting your rig in your sig. http://www.overclock.net/t/1258253/how-to-put-your-rig-in-your-sig

I know this is a stupid question but do you need to use 24-pin and both the 8-pin power connectors or 24 + 1x 8-pin power connector is fine? Right now I only use 24pin and 1x 8-pin power connectors and I can play games just fine but I'm not sure thats its safe to do....frown.gif

Perfectly safe. The extra 8 pin is for high overclocks.

Please I need a little help here:

My Motherboard doenst seems to find my 2 HDDs. Bios/Windows can find my SSDs if I use the 2 top ports (the one near the RAM) but I have 2 other HDDs that I want to use but no matter which port I use (beside the two top ports) then Bios/Windows can't find them frown.gif

I've installed all the drivers for Windows download from Asrock's website. Please help can anyone tell me what I did wrong ; ;

Done. followed the instruction to add my rig. Thx for the info Swolern!

Hardware Monitor shows CPU VCore voltage runs between 1.30 to 1.34V, stays at 1.33V mostly. I think it is too high from what I see others are running between 1.0X to 1.2V @ 4.2GHz....

Re-seated the Antec 920 cooler block and re-applied thermal paste didn't help much. I used some left over Zalman thermal paste that came with the Zalman 9200MAX cooler. Didn't want to spending $15 on some Artic Silver after spending the $$$ on this rig...lol.

I'll try lowering the VCore voltage to see if it will help in lowering the temp....

This is what it looks like idling:

Shouldn't matter much but what make of the HDs are you using? I had the same issue with one of my Seagate 3TB drives. For some reason one didn't want to show up when it was connected to 1 of the LSI ports. I unplugged the SATA connections to reconnect them. The drive showed up afterwards.

Do you even see the drives in the HD BBS list in the UEFI BIOS?

Are the drives running the latest firmware? I always update the firmware when I'm having issues.

Hope this helps, good luck!

LoL .... similar thing happened to me too. My machine got stuck after post with a Dr Debug code showing after I put everything together, all because of I didn't have the PCIe power plugged into the video card! blushsmiley.gif
