ASUS RIVE

ASROCK EXTREME 11

Now I am in the doubt of buying the extreme11 or the Black Edition...

Have you tried an ivy-e on extreme11? I am following the black edition owners thread and the best oc by now is 4,625... In my champion I achieved 4,7 on air with a lot of voltage and high temps, and 4,6 with a normal 1,40v (4930k). So I am not impressed by the black edition, at least by now..

Besides, the black edition will be late here in Spain, so I am near of buying the extreme11... If someone here confirms it works well with ivy-e, I would surely order it this saturday morning from amazon Spain. (If so, I hope it brings an ivy-e compatible bios)..

Guys, what do you think about the evga x79 dark??? Anyone has this mobo???

My PC is pretty much maxed now. Can't really think of anything else to connect to this motherboard.

LinX AVX @ 10 threads / 20GB allocation with Unigine Heaven looping at the same time.

I dont think any boards are doing extremely well with IB-E. It mostly depends on the silicon quality of the chip. IB-E voltage requirements just gets extremely high past a certain threshold point(depending on the chip). Its just its architecture. Only way to get very high OCs with IB-E of 5.2-5.4ghz in get you one of these. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I have been planing to sell mine for a while, its just hard to let it go.

I saw 1800+ Watt a couple times but was too slow in getting a photo. It hovered between 1300W and 1700W mostly while LinX and Heaven were running.

I still have the AX1200. It's sitting in a box in the closet of my computer room. I'll be selling it soon.

Can AdamK47 or anyone else with 3 or 4 GPUs on this board help me test out the PCI-E bandwidth. Trying to see how much the x16 speeds to all slots help with pci-e performance. Here is how.

concBandwidthTest.txt 12k .txt file

(change ".txt to .exe)
shift-rightclick in the folder containing the file > open cmnd window here > concBandwidthTest.exe 0 1 2 3...

It a simple test. All you do is download small file above. Change file name to exe. instead of txt (easily done after you uncheck "Hide extension for file known types" in the Folder options in your Windows Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Folder Options.

After that run cmd prompt "concBandwidthTest.exe 0 1 2 3"
Use 0 1 2 for 3 GPUs. Use 0 1 2 3 for 4 gpus.

I seem to have some issues with the 560ti i have with the extreme 11. The monitor would not wake up from sleep mode randomly even after i disabled all power saving settings in the power saving area. Only had the turn off monitor after 20 mins option enabled. The monitor might randomly wake up at times with a video driver not responding message shown in the system tray if I keep moving the mouse or pushing random buttons on the keyboard. Most of the time I have to reset the computer.kc0X8t

I never had this issue before when I used the same 560ti card and driver with my old P45 Asus board with a Q9450 running Win7.

I never had this issue before when I used the same 560ti card and driver with my old P45 Asus board with a Q9450 running Win7.

I had exactly the same issue when I moved the MSI 560ti 880OC from a Q9450 + Asus P45 Deluxe setup to my current setup (see sig). The monitor would not wake up or it took many attempts from shaking the mouse for it to wake up, a "video driver recovered from a critical error" would usually show in the systray if the monitor woke up from sleep mode. Loading the minidump in bugcheck showed that it was a TDR error, which had something to do w/ the video card did not respond within the 2 seconds time set in the Win7 registry. Spent lots of time to troubleshoot w/o any luck. You'll find lots of info if you google TDR video driver error.

I read about someone was able to fix (perhaps mask) the issue by going to msconfig > Boot > Advanced Options > check "Number of processors" to set the correct number + check "Max memory" to set the correct amount of memory could resolve the issue. I ended up getting an 680 4GB card and used the 560ti as physic card (overkill!). The issue went away but I still see the TDR issue comes up in the event log in Windows 8 from time to time.

I now have both check boxes unchecked based on what i read here http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/183858-msconfig-maximum-memory-issue.html

It is a painful issue to troubleshoot as I suspect it has something to do with the driver.

Hope this info helps.

For those using SLI... Do any of you experience sudden reduction in GPU usage? I've noticed it in the past after doing heavy stress testing or running a game with vsync off for a long time. All of a sudden the GPU usage drops and I can't get it back until I reboot the PC.

Since I became aware of the PCI-E bandwith test I decided to run it after encountering the problem. This is what I saw:

It looks like one of the PLX chips is going into some sort of reduced performance mode. Any idea what's going on? This happens even when not overclocked. I can only fix it by restarting the system.
