How to safely use AC unit to aid stress testing?

Hi,

In an effort to obtain very low ambient temps for stress testing, I have my AC blowing 10c air away from my computer and a room fan blowing into the PC with the side off. I measured the ambient air blowing into my PC at around 21c ~ 22c. This has not caused any problems but I want to ensure I avoid condensation. Am I able to have the AC blow directly into the PC? I imagine not, it would probably condensate my entire mobo. Should there be a particular temp differential between core load and AC output temp?

It drops my load temps about 15c in Prime95 blend, as opposed to before when ambients were 30c (no AC).

Any tips on how I can do this safely and effectively are much appreciated.

The only way for condensation to occur is if you were blowing hot and humid air over cold objects.  It's like taking a cold beverage outside on a hot and humid day vs. taking a hot beverage outside on a cold winter day.  The hot beverage container in the cold winter air stays dry while the cold beverage container in the hot humid summer air starts dripping with condensed water vapor.  The hot beverage container is like your CPU and video card, and the cold winter air is the air coming from the air conditioner.

 

So, it's impossible for condensation to occur on anything.  The cold air coming out of the air conditioner is also extremely dry due to being cold.  The colder the air, the less moisture there is in it (which is why Autumn and Winter air is dryer and crisper than the air in mid-summer).

 

If you still have a concern, then when you're done using the AC, turn off your PC and unplug it from the wall outlet for several minutes to let the cold parts (the parts that aren't generating their own heat at all) warm up.  As long as you keep the AC running in general instead of just turning it off and letting the humid outside air into your room (I'm assuming it's hot and humid out) then you should be 100% safe.  Even so, I think you wouldn't have to do this for no other reason than just peace of mind.
