Phenom II X4 955 BE Max: 4,0 Ghz :(

Thread Starter
I have bought a Asus sabertooth 990fx for OC'ing my Phenom II X4 955 but i cant get if further then 4.0 witouth BSOD.
I have set the VRM all on auto and optimized and the following things i do manual:
CPU: 200 mhz
CPU Multiplier: 20.5
CPU-NB: 2600 Mhz
CPU-NB Voltage: 1.25
CPU Voltage: Auto: Mostly arround 1.45
Temps before BSOD: Arround 55 Degrees (I Have a little bit too much thermal paste. I will fix that later)

i suggest you use this guide after you fix the cpu cooling.

http://www.overclock.net/t/777378/official-gappos-little-deneb-thuban-overclocking-guide-with-too-many-smileys

EDIT: i gave you that in another thread already.doh.gif

try these . . .

1. set the cpu vcore to manual @ 1.38v first.
2. the cpu/nb vcore to 1.27v - 1.3v
3. turn off: c1e, turbo, cool & quiet
4. make sure the ram is at manufacturers specs for now.

How long do i need to run Prime95 Blend before i can now my NB Is stable?
I follow the guide now but i skip the RAM Part because i have no cooling on that and they are cheap.
I am now finding the max NB Speed/Voltage. I get an error now: Can't set the overclock or something. I have the NB Now at 3 ghz
post #5 of 37
3ghz maybe too high. Idont suggest going past 2900mhz on the Cpu Nb frequency. Please also ensure that your HT Link is below 2000mhz.

Ok i will leave the CPU/NB Now on 2.8 with 1.4 v
The HTT on 2 Ghz
But i want 4.2 Ghz CPU. Is 2.8 ghz CPU/NB Good then? Because the guide says that you must find the max of all.
First you should find your max cpu clocks and then when that is stable look towards increasing performance by increasing cpu-nb frequency. With the cpu-nb at 2800mhz you need nothing more than 1.32v.

I have the following settings now:
CPU/NB speed: 2800 mhz
CPU/NB Voltage: 1.4 (With 1.3 it doesnt start)
HTT speed: 2400 mhz
NB Voltage: 1.1875
CPU Speed: 4.100 (testing right now)
CPU Voltage: 1.450
I am now stressing with prime. Will adjust the CPU/NB Voltage after this stress

My Vcore-1 is 61 Degrees now :/ is that normal?
The CPU Is 57 now
Then later reduce it to 1.34v. Max vcore for 4ghz should be around the 1.48v range. So if it does crash at 1.45v don't worry:D
