How much power does my rig need?

Thread Starter
My computer is turning off during gaming and after asking around (see my other thread) I believe it's my PSU. I currently have Raidmax RX-700. I've had it since 2008 and it's served me well, I think it might be finally starting to not work anymore.
Here it is on newegg.

And I'm looking at this for a replacement power supply, preferably a modular power supply as my case is a mid size and extra wires get quite annoying.

Do you guys have any recommendations otherwise based on my rig? Or if the PSU I'm looking at is good? I didn't see it in the recommended list.

I can vouch for OCZ power supplies (superb quality, clean power); 700w is a ton of juice, as well wink.gif

now if only those MIRs weren't so unreliable..

either way, that's a great power supply.

Corsair AX650. You don't want to cheap out on a PSU. A good CPU, Motherboard and PSU are the heart and soul of any system.

A solid 450w or above will be able to power that system. While that OCZ MxS will be able to power that system, it's an overrated PSU and you could get something better for the money - a high-end unit like the Rosewill Capstone line for example.

I have that OCZ one and it should serve you well. Although, I'd recommend grabbing a better quality one while you're in the market - I only got this one because someone sold it here pretty cheap. I'd say a good quality 600W one should do the trick with some head room..

Here's a good list of PSUs
