I just sold my 960T and my crosshair IV in favor of Ivy bridge, although I wouldn't mind building another AMD rig when I get to college. The 960T is one of the best chips I've dealt with, most can hit 4.0Ghz with around 1.4v. While mine had a successful X6 unlock to hit 4.0 stable I had to pump in 1.52v to stabilize the chip. axesmiley.png

Ic interesting. My problem is my chip gets pretty hot if I start upping to much the voltage on it. So been trying to keep it with voltage low enough to run the cpu at higher speed.

Question, so when unlocking the 2 core on the 960T you have 1605T. The vcore is down, most voltage I think are down from the looks of it but not sure will have to check it with HW Monitor tomorrow. Anyways, I did notice that by just unlocking the 2 core and doing nothing else the watts on the chip were 174watt. When overclocking the chip with 6 cores I have 144watt. However; it seems to run cooler having the 174watt over the 144 watt by 2 to 3 degree different. Any idea why that would happen?

Why does it show 174watt on Power Package? and should I be concern about dropping that down? If so what area in the bios control that? Thanks!

Probably just a glitch mate. I wouldn't look too much into it.

ok let me know if you guys think this looks ok or what I need to drop down.

Multi = 19x
FSB = 200Mhz
NB = 2400
HT = 2000
vcore = 1.35
nb v. = 1.2

I got to Test 4 FFT Lenght 8K test when temp reach 55c. I stop the test, I need this to be way lower. Should I drop more the vcore?

Update:
Found a good sweet setup.
3.6Ghz
Multi = 18
FSB = 200
NB = 2400
HT = 2000
vcore = 1.3
nbv = 1.17
mem = 1:4

Pass first 1024k test max temp 45, then did 9 of the 8k test mac temp 49 and this is over 20mins test. YAY! =)

i noticed with this chip as a hex that when it idles around 34C, it would be tough to keep it under 55C at load. the ambient temp (summer does not help but the best time to find the sweet spot) and the efficiency of the cpu cooler affect setting the cpu vcore.

anyway, try using other combinations between the multiplier and fsb (example: 16/250 at 1.38v). going back to 4, 3.8, etc. as you become familiar with your board you might be able to find the right combo and might even set a lower vcore. just reset the ram and ht back to their original values when lowering of raising the fsb. write the values (combos) down as a reference of which works and which don't. but like i said earlier, the idle temp has to go down either with lower vcore, better cooling, and/or lower ambient.
