Simple backlit keyboard with 6-key rollover

Thread Starter
I am not looking to spend much on a keyboard, otherwise I would go with a mechanical. I just want something to replace my aging G15v1. It has gotten quite dirty.

The only requirements I have are backlit keys and 6-key rollover.

Any suggestions?

I really like my Logitech K800. I have one at work and one at home for my wife. I like the key action and the battery life is great (about 2-3 months between charges being on 24/7 and used about 2-3 hours/day). I would recommend a wrist pad for it though.

I also like my K340 which I'm using right now. It's not backlit, but it's compact and great to use when I'm in my recliner. smile.gif

I keep wanting to try a mechanical, but haven't really gotten around to it yet.

Just my 2c worth...hope it helps,

Rich

I second the K800. I use mine on my lap while sitting on the couch and I love it. The keys feel nice, and the backlight comes on when it should with a good brightness level. I just tested it here, and it does 6 keys just fine. I got mine for ~$80 and it's worth it. thumb.gif

I don't think I will be needing a wireless KB though. Don't they have slower response times, or is that a thing of the past?

I don't actually play any games that require a fast response time, so I can't really answer that. I don't notice any delay, but then it's not like I'm going to miss a head-shot if I don't fire an email off quick enough. rolleyes.gif

They do make a wired version, but I've never used it.

I used to use the Logitech illuminated before switching to mechanical otaku. It isn't too shabby. If you aren't going mechanical, I suggest the G110, but at that price, you might as well hop on the mechanical keyboard train..

The Microsoft Sidewinder X4 can be had for $40 - 50 and is backlit (red) with 28 KRO through USB. It's quite a nice keyboard to type on compared to other rubber domes. The logitech Illuminated keyboard is good for typing but has issues with certain key commands for FPSes which the older version of it did not. It's been a major thing in the Logitech and other gaming related forums. The K800 does not have this problem.

For backlit mechanical keyboard the CM Storm Trigger is quite good at $120.

I think I want to avoid red as it clashes with my blue that I have in my case. How do they manage 28KRO with USB? I thought USB was limited to 6-key rollover and PS/2 was N-key?

Are you referring to the G110 from logitech?

I figure that if I spend ~$100 I may as well go mech, but I don't want to spend quite that much.

It may clash, but I do insist upon the Sidewinder x4. Stable, key rollover is insane, cheap and 18 macro combinations.
I have had this for more than a year and I love it.

I pulled the trigger a little early on the CM quickfire when it released, after seeing the storm trigger I'm tempted just to go an get it.
