Is it bottlenecked?

I recently bought an XFX HD 7870 gpu, with a hope of improving the fps of my games. this card, however, seems to be a major dissapointment. My last GPU (a GTX 550 Ti) ran Empire total war on high settings, with an acceptable framerate. My new GPU on the other hand, seems to be running at around 60 fps with max settings, but there is a strange lag. this does not show on the fraps fps cpunter, and the game runs very well. the strange thing is that weird rythmical "stop" which occures one time per second. my processor is an FX-4100, running at 3,8 GHz. I was wondering if the CPU is bottlenecked, or if it is just a strange bug...

No, i dont think a single 7870 is bottlenecked by fx 4100 its not that underpowered

I'd go 660Ti if the leaked reviews are to be believed

I wouldnt go sli, because of compability issues...
There ar problems like microstatering, when you have 60+ fps, but it "lags" and it doesnt appear on frame rate..

If you can afford to buy a 570 then just wait for the 660 to come out. It will be a much better buy and probably near the same price point.
