if we are going to compare two processors they should be the same price.

A Piledriver should rate about the same IPC as a Phenom II, meaning that a 3.5 GHz Piledriver should perform about the same as a 3.5 GHz Phenom II. What will make Piledriver a good upgrade is that fact that the architecture is capable of clocking much higher. Based on what Bulldozer does, I would think that 4.5 GHz and better should be easily attainable on Piledriver.

great thanks for the info.

it also consumes less power, so does that mean the heat will go down? I'm still using the Corsair H50, which is equivalent to the Hyper 212 EVO so getting high clocks will be difficult.

Thanks for the (supposedly) update! I only hope to see a leaked benchmark of them this month.

Even if Pile Drive live's up to AMD's expectations its still going to be a power hungery turd. and guess what I'm an AMD fan boy! My sig rig is my first intel ever. Not to mention with AMD's track record for desktop CPU's I'm of the opinion they suck until proven otherwise. I have no idea why anyone would defend pile driver at this point.

To make my first post a little more clear. If money is tight stick with your 955BE. Its a solid performer, and is more than capable to doing anything(gaming or rendering) at very decent speeds.
If you are going to upgrade I would strongly suggest going intel. I perfer the SB over the IB personally. IB is a little faster but dose not clock as high as SB's on avrage. temps are higher too.
Another budget upgrade would be a 1090t or similar, not much of a gaming upgrade but will help with rendering a little bit.
Umm, not sure you read my post...

ya i did, i was correcting your "facts"
we all know BD and 2500k is on par in many day too day benchies while being behind in gaming
PD is not out yet, can't just say OHH PD ISN'T OUT YET, BUT BECAUSE IM ME PD IS AUTOMATICALLY WORSE THAN 2500k
we have to wait and see.
