My buddy asked for a $500 build for rig & I would appreciate your assistance!

Thread Starter 
Tough choice on which processor to start a build with, and he wants an upgrade for work quickly.

He didn't mention gaming or any fun time, and for the time being the main purpose of the rig will be:

To load up programs (Microsft based, if you're curious) quickly and have room for them.

He does not need a monitor, keyboard, mousepad, headphones, speaker, chair, table, or mouse.

$500 budget (not including tax and shipping)

We are based in southern california, but do not want to drive to Microcenter. Frys/BestBuy(ew) are do-able destinations.

We are comfortable using newegg, and tigerdirect... along with other websites recommended by the community here at overclock.net

Pretty much, and if there are any surprises it will be to play diablo 3 (possibly 1920x1080).

Much appreciated, I have been waiting awhile to help him upgrade his computer. I feel some-what ashamed of not knowing where to start on this project, but I suppose I came to the right place!

that comes out to 406.00$ not including shipping but does he have hardrives?and windows?

I think windows is covered, but definitely need hardrives or possibly add an SSD too?

well no affence but 500$ isent gonna get you much like still need graphics card and drives and a ssd
