Graphics Card Shroud Melting?

Thread Starter
Hi! I have an EVGA GTS 450 FBP version which I have overclocked to this settings in less than a week:

The problem I have now is that I've noticed once I opened my case that the video card shroud looks like it somehow shrank and is kinda getting closer to the heatsink. I know this because when I first installed it the shroud is flat and I can't see the fins of the fan but now the fins are protruding outside the shroud.

I don't know if you can see it in the images but I tried my best to take pictures.

Hmm, but I don't really wanna spend more money on this card and I just got this brand new on sale. Should I return this card?

Most probably it's not the shroud that has moved but the fan. When the bearing and locking disc get worn the fan basically starts to fall out. Its not really a problem as long as the fan does not start to woble or scrape against the shroud.

I had a 450 and a 560 from EVGA, and both looked the same as yours. I think it's just their shroud design....I never had any problems with them ninja.gif

I think it is the shroud really, maybe it is not that visible in the picture but I can see clearly that the shroud slopes downward to the heat sink.

I feel relieved! I was worried that the shroud would shrink so bad that air wouldn't be able to pass through or worst get in the way of the fans and all hell breaks loose. lol
How long have you had your cards?

If the shroud was melting or deforming due to heat, it would not look any where near as nice. Also, the plastic they use on these things won't get soft until well past 100C.

Well I guess I was just too worried about it. this is my first graphics card ever with a shroud coming from a 9500gt.
