according to the IB oc guide this is well below the graph the writer has published in his thread.
Should I see if I can go higher? I read that you can OC the IB chip but after some limit the other stuff in the chip will degrade? I have no idea what that means lol.
Max temps after 12 hours was 71C on the hottest core, 66-68 on the others.
I sold my i5 2500k and the Hyper 212+. Bought H100 for $80 (had a coupon)... awesome!
I bought a Asus board, and I put CPU current capability to 140%... wondering if that is right.
Edit: Would it be okay to test stability in P95 using the custom 8-8 cpu test for a hour? If it is stable in that I'll do blend. Just wondering since I saw a post on this somewhere.
Since the CPU has an Integrated Memory Controller, the best Prime95 stress test is Blend. Actually, it is Custom Blend, meaning that you select Custom while the Blend test is selected. There's only one setting to change in Custom: change the memory amount from 1600 MB to be about 95% of your memory, and then work at getting your system stable enough to last 12 hours or more without any of the "workers" failing (but about 24 hours is preferred).
Anyway, I don't know anything about this degradation stuff. As far as I know, the overclock you have now is very safe (relatively, of course, as always).
140% is fine, although I don't know what this setting is for. I used to think that I understood, but I'm using 100% for 4.7 GHz with my 2500K and it's fine. I may do some research to learn more about it because I've been in the dark about this for over a year now.
Finally, I think 4.5 GHz is a good overclock for the 3770K. Now, if this were the 2500K or 2600K, then I'd be saying that it's just average.
