So I have a 2600K with an H100 and I've been running it at 4.8ghz (1.45 volts) for about two months now no problems. Running prime I was getting about 75 degrees after 8 hours. Well last night I left my computer on to download a large file (Skryim HD texture pack from Steam if anyone cares) and my computer froze around 2 am (about six hours after starting the download)
When I woke up my computer was unresponsive and my keyboard showed 2 am as the time so that's how I know it shut off then. So today I tried out my new texture pack and I got about an hour of problem free gaming. Then my computer just shut off on me (it showed the windows shutting down screen, not just an unexpected shut down) I had wondered if it was from heat, but I turned it back on and this time after about five minutes my computer did the same thing, this time I noticed my temperatures were in the high 80s. So I turned my cooler on max settings (its in push pull with the stock fans from my case, and I turned those up too) dialed back my overclock to 4.5ghz rolled back the voltage to 1.4 and ran prime. In about 30 seconds I was in the 80s. I shut off prime and now I'm idling at about 40 (usually around 30)
Tl;dr getting high temps with H100
What is the problem here? Obviously my cooler is working otherwise I would be idling at much higher temps, but it isn't working to its full potential. Hope this doesn't mean contacting Corsair
Thanks for reading.
Update: getting new unit and I'm wondering if I should sell it and get something else like the thermaltake version.
