Whats wrong with 1.45 on an H100? Like as long as I have decent temps aren't I okay?

well on the processor even though you have decent temps. voltage can effect the health of it. regardless of temps so like 1.5v is something ive tried once but never do it again because it will wear a hole through my chip much faster

I understand that but what's the difference between 1.45 on an H100 and 1.45 on a custom loop?

Btw VERY jealous of your chip. Mine kinda sucks. It needs high voltages to be stable frown.gif

custom loop? well not really too much in my opinion. it is good if you really want as close to ambient temps as possible and adding GPU to watercooling. plus the CPU waterblock can be better than the H100 as far as heat transfer..your fine dude.

The difference would just be the temps; a H100 wont perform nearly as well as a custom loop will.
Not saying you're going to fricassee your processor or anything, but I'm not too surprised at your temps either given the cooler and the voltage of the chip etc.

Okay. Well before this whole ordeal my temps didn't go above 80 which I'm happy with. Even if they were in the low 80s I wouldn't mind because I never get anywhere near 100% load unless I'm stress testing. I think I am going to roll back my overclocking though. 4.5ghz is fine for me and at 1.375 volts I feel safer. Wish my chip could do more but oh well. Hopefully I'll get a new CPU and motherboard this year but who knows. I'm interested in ivy-e biggrin.gif

Btw VERY jealous of your chip. Mine kinda sucks. It needs high voltages to be stable frown.gif

Never compare your CPU with others. It gives you an unnecessary bad feeling. And more often than not, those insane clocks aren't stable. 4.8 @ 1.45 isn't top notch but it's nothing to be ashamed of. It's a lottery, nothing you can do about it.
I'm willing to bet that 5.5 Ghz clock isn't stable at that voltage. The fact he has a Sandy super stable link in his sig but has no entries in that thread kind of confirms my suspicions. Now don't take this the wrong way F1ynn, but proof.gif or bust.

If you don't want custom watercooling, then you shouldn't get a custom loop. Watercooling is a hobby and a passion. You'll get some lower temps but you won't magically overclock further or anything @ 1.45 V.

As a reply to your previous post: I'm one of the people who calls thermaltake "Thermaltacky" wink.gif . I find their products ... rather distasteful (although that 240 cooler ain't so bad).

In short:
Don't waste money, keep the H100 (perhaps some other fans if you really want to, no idea if you're using the stock ones) and enjoy your overclocked chip thumb.gif

Generally prime for 12 hours is considered stable

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like thermaltake. I thought they were generally liked in the pc community and maybe I should try one. But corsair is my favorite. I wish I could do a complete corsair build. Installing this thing again makes me hate my antec 1200. I want a 650d so bad.

Lol I guess. I just want the best for my 2600k is all! I want him to play with the other chips! But 4.8ghz is about all I can get.
