If you are willing to stray into AMD territory biggrin.gif the 7850 is an attractive option and is very overclock friendly. My Asus 7850 with the DirectCUII cooler is overclocked to 1300Mhz on the core and the memory is running at 1500MHz. Performance with these clocks is roughly the same as a factory 7950. In addition, the 7850 also runs cooler and draws less power than its competitors. If you will not be overclocking then the 480 is the clear choice.
Stock performance: 480 > 570 > 560 Ti 448 > 7850
You could also wait for the 660 Ti

480 does offer the best bang for the buck, but I do like to overclock and stay somewhat quite, so I would only get one with aftermarket cooling. I also moved recently where I have to pay my own electric bill biggrin.gif Just do not want to deal with ATI anymore, its back to Nvidia time lol

I should say that one of my reasons for saying that I would prefer the 570 over the 480 is that the 570 pulls less power and produces less heat.  So if you were to have two 570s in SLi, then it would be cooler than two 480s.

SLI would be nice, but only if I really need it. Hopefully Metro will not kill the 570. And I would have to upgrade some other hardware too, beside the 1200W psu lol

The GTX 660 Ti should pull even less power than the GTX 570.

If you are going with Nvidia, you should wait for the 660 Ti. It is days / weeks away from its launch. Based on first review, it performs closely to a 7870 / 7950. Go 660 Ti if you go green. If you go red, go 7970 or go HOME!
660ti for sure. I'd still even chose a 660ti over a 7970, based on the scarce benchmarks that are already out there.
I'd go for either the 480 Lightning, because of the epic red and black awesomeness, or a 7850, they perform near the same (1-3 fps difference either way), but with the 7850 producing 160w less. I know AMD drivers used to be horrible, but they're much better now, so don't be afraid to take the leap again.

Yeah all the 660ti bench scores floating around are with NO AA. A good card, but no where near the capabilities of a 7970. If it was it would cost $450 not $300. A 570/560Ti 448 core seems like a good fit here.I would pass on the heat, power monster 480 unless it was dirt cheap.

OP waiting for the GTX 660 Ti might be a good option. but it looks like that card will be priced around USD 300. anyway I suggest you wait for 10 days and find out from reviews how good it is. My guess is once settings are maxed out with MSAA this card will give you GTX 580 performance. so hold on.

From those cards you listed 480 has very high power consumption and is generally the worst overclocker, although it can overclock quite nicely. There's not very big difference between 570 and 560 Ti 448 at same clocks, Ti 448 actually often overclocks better than 570 from what I've seen here on OCN and other sites.

480 has advantage of having more RAM. From your monitor I assume you play at 1080p, for example modded Skyrim and BF3 maxed can use over 1,3 GB RAM at that resolution. Most games don't need that much RAM though but if you want to be future proof 1,5 - 2 GB could be needed.

If you don't mind buying used components GTX 580 can be bought from Ebay etc. for around 250$ or even under that if you are lucky. Just pick some card that has good amount of warranty left. That would be a very good option since you want Nvidia card.

Than you everyone for contributing and helping me out. I do game at 1080p 100% of the time, I would rather lower other options before resolution. I would like to go with 660Ti, even if it is on par with 580, its just too expensive for me and it will depreciate pretty quick while 480, 570 just cant drop much more in price. I almost bought 570 Twin Frozr III yesterday, but it slipped away. However, I'm glad I didn't get it, because I was browsing ebay again and found this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/MSI-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-480-N480GTX-LIGHTNING-/271030918648?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item3f1ab39df8

At this price this may just be perfect for me, despite monstrous power consumption. According to all reviews, it is a great overclocker, cool and quite. It is the rarest 480 out there after all and I'm a sucker for rare GPUs. I'm afraid if I wait for 660Ti release, this 480 will be gone.
