DayZ: Official Overclock.net DayZ Servers (WIP) - Page 3

Yeah, I read. Thanks.
Why was the server down if I may ask? Also, is it normally scheduled to be locked for an extended maintenance period and if so at what time(s)? I understand if it gets pillaged by hackers that some admins temporarily lock it, if that's the case maybe a post can be made to announce the reason why it's down in the future with a possible estimated time till reboot?

A post was made on the thread for that server. You should subscribe to the server threads specifically for information relating to those servers.

That thread can be found here.

We're currently scheduling reboots every 4HRS to keep things fresh and fast but I'll keep your advice in mind and see if we can coordinate that thumb.gif

Nobody deleted your post, I personally do not have that ability. I moved your post to the appropriate server specific thread as this is a general OCN DayZ thread. I'm sorry but I thought Huddler (our forum software) notified and redirected posters when their posts/threads are moved. We're currently performing maintenance on the server as we just opened up about a day ago. We're tightening security, making performance tweaks, and working on a fun secret project for OCN members.

Please see above luckily ArmA II/DayZ server don't require once maintenance. We just started these servers so we've been load testing and planning some performance and security tweaks. Once things get sorted out we'll be running without any extended maintenance, ever.

That’s right, this is actually happening - DayZ will be developed as a standalone game, with me as project lead, by Bohemia Interactive. This is the fairy-tale outcome for a mod that many would have said impossible four months ago.

Development and updates of the mod will continue in parallel with the development of the game, so anyone who is playing the mod now will be able to continue to do so. The project will follow the Minecraft development model; fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price.

I realize people will have many, many questions - but we wanted to let everyone know the announcement now. Over the coming weeks, these questions will be answered. The game will have it’s own site, www.dayzgame.com and the mod will continue at it’s present link.

How does this affect the servers? The mod will be no more and they will be standalone servers for the game like MC?

Right now, it doesn't affect anything. I'm sure when it gets closer to testing the standalone and release, they'll make an announcement about what is going to happen to the current mod servers.

I'm nobody special but I'm thinking the standalone and ArmA2+mod clients will coexist. In the future when standalone is released you'll have the option to purchase ArmA2 and download the mod OR buy the standalone at hopefully a lower price in comparison. They said they're going with the Minecraft model so pricing will increase over time as the standalone become more developed. I'd imagine the big cash grab will be if/when they utilize the ArmA III engine and us early adopters will have to pay if we haven't been asked to already at standalone initial release. They're going to piss people off either way IMO but it has to be done, the game has to be on its own.
