How much does good thermal paste help?

Thread Starter
I am currently using the thermal paste that came with my Corsair H100.
How much of a difference will expensive thermal paste make to my CPU temps?
Any suggestions of the best paste I can get?

Thanks thumb.gif

the thermal paste that came with that cooler is one of the best, you can buy a better and expensive one, but it will just lower the temperature by 1 to 2 degrees

corsair put some high end stuff on its h series coolers so the only think better are the ones that are basically solder

Most of the well known thermal pastes'll get your temps down more than enough. The difference between the good ones is only a few degrees as shown here. That is if you make sure to apply the TIM as directed.

They're other things that people thought might make good thermal paste that have also been tested. Just things from around the house.

It'd be neat to run a longevity test. Can't get more budget than mustard and those initial numbers aren't bad at all to be sure!

Better thermal paste will make a noticeable difference in your temps. I would recommend trying Arctic Silver 5. I use it on my gpu and cpu and it works great. Check out Hardware Secrets site for a review on the 2012 top thermal paste.
