UPS Always on battery? - Page 2

doesnt sound like anything is wrong with it. its not good to keep a battery fully charged all the time, it will end up slowly killing its capacity. maintaining a trickle flow of power out and then recharging it will significantly extend a batteries life. it may be built to do this automatically to extend its life though i would think that it would be longer than 30 seconds.

UPS also intervene when the voltage drops / spikes etc... So my guess is the UPS just keeps intervening.

Yes it does beep...

What are you doing on the computer when this happens? benchmarks, stress testing or anything like that? I know if you are drawing more than 900w that it is capable of, it will start to beep and warn you that your battery run time is less than 1 minute.

Then I'm willing to say that it's defective.

There should be a red button on the back of the UPS that will allow you to reset it.

This is what mine looks like:

hope this helps.

Speaking from personal experience with one of those units there is most likely something wrong with it. As SenorRed recommended hit the reset button on the back to start troubleshooting. Next use the usb cable and install the monitoring software with it. It will tell you when it switching power sources. There may even be a diagnostic option in there (I can't remember and currently can't get to that particular one.)

If it is beeping that means it is switching to battery. It is normal for the fan to come on from time to time and trickle charge the battery but it won't beep when it does that.

I think there was something wrong with my wall socket because I just plugged it in elsewhere and it is charging again and using AC Power... When I had it plugged in at my desk the program it came with said it was receiving 0v input which was strange because it was the exact same outlet I had my previous power strip on and have it on again right now and my PC is working just fine... I plugged it on the other side of my room and the program it came with now says it has 120v input and is working fine...

I am so confused right now D:

I don't know if this would make a difference, but is that seemingly 'bad' outlet properly grounded?
