Sabertooth Z77 won't power up (HELP)

PROBLEM:
I returned home from vacation this evening and my Sabertooth Z77 build (about 2 months old) will not power up. When I hit the power button on my case the board powers up for half a second then shuts down. The board will then power back up 5 seconds later for half a second and shut down again. This cycle repeats every 5 seconds until I shut the power off at the PSU.

When the board powers up for half a second, there are no beeps and all of the fans spin up (PSU, both CPU cooler fans, both video card fans, and both MB assist fans). The case fans do not spin up. The red CPU led light as well as the cases power button also light up during the half second until the baord shuts down.

WHAT I'VE TRIED:
1. I cleared the CMOS
2. I tried a different PSU
3. I tried a different CPU cooler
4. I disconnected all my drives, both video cards, both RAM sticks, and all rear I/O connections.

At this point, I'm thinking either a bad board or a bad CPU. I'm leaning towards a bad board. The system was running rock solid before I left on vacation.

See my system specs are in my signature.

Have any of you ever come across somehting like this before? Any Suggestions? Thanks.

What case? Roommate had the same exact problem, turns out that the power button on is case was held down and was causing the computer to do what you are describing. Unplug the power switch and reset cable from your mobo and manually bridge the connection to turn the computer on.

Not likely your issue, but I thought the same thing about his for an hour before i finally tried it and that ended up being the issue:rolleyes:

Thanks for your reply. When I swaped out the PSU, I had both those connections off for several minutes.

No, the power button was physically being compressed down (stuck) and caused the computer to turn on and off constantly.

The best way to rule anything like that out is to just unplug both switches and manually bridge the power pins.

Thanks for your reply. That is a great idea. I hadn't thought of a potential problem with the case switch. My case is a CoolerMaster HAF XM. I tried what you suggested, but unfortunately it didn't work. When I bridged the connection by hand, the system powers up but then shuts down again in about a half a second and then goes into its 5 second loop.
