8gb is pretty much ideal. I have supported only needing 4gb for a while but it's gotten to the point where it just doesn't cut it any more. During the GW2 Beta weekend that game alone took up about 2.5gb of RAM. I had to go through the task manager shutting down anything I wasn't using and even then it like to freeze up every now and then. BFBC2 does it occasionally but it's not too much of a problem.
