There are no 680s hitting over 1400mhz without sub-ambient cooling. You can vMod a 7970 as well, and with sub-ambient cooling, it will OC just as far as the 680 will...

Oh BTW, I own 5 7970s (3 watercooled), and 4 680s. I've gamed on both setups @ 1440p and honestly they're so close its not even worth arguing about.
