The 7970's do overclock like champs, not because of the overclock per say, but because the chips were released a little under what they should of been. The GTX 680's overclock just the same amount as the 7970's do @ stock voltage. The same cannot be said for the 7970's. A 1ghz GTX 680 can reach 1300mhz at stock voltage. You don't see many 7970's break the same barrier at stock voltage... add the voltage, sure. But the volt modded 680's are hitting 1400's and up.
I still agree that the 7970's are better choices than the 670's if money isn't much of an issue. Especially since the reference chips are selling for $430 brand new at certain shops.

There are no 680s hitting over 1400mhz without sub-ambient cooling. You can vMod a 7970 as well, and with sub-ambient cooling, it will OC just as far as the 680 will... rolleyes.gif

Oh BTW, I own 5 7970s (3 watercooled), and 4 680s. I've gamed on both setups @ 1440p and honestly they're so close its not even worth arguing about.

People having trouble with stutter should check out 'frame rate limiter'. I suspect it's something that Nvidia has build into the drivers which causes them to have lower performance sometimes, but it also gives more people saying that SLI stuttering is not so bad as CFX stuttering. With CFX you can/have to tweak it yourself.

There's a lot of good information and solutions on the internet for stuttering tbh.

That's good to know. Unless someone is doing a multi monitor setup, the choice this generation will be determined by price or fanboyism.
