Is it my power supply? - Page 3

Agreed, BF3 is known to use tons of system resources, and with that comes heat.
Example: CPU for Physx.

Alright so I took apart my graphics card, dusted it out and the picture is what my gpu looked like.
Im guessing it has too little thermal paste like you guys said?

I don't have any on me right now but it should arrive by Tuesday.

The thermal paste looks like it is lacking to me. I usually coat the whole contact surface of the chip with a thin layer.

Hah thanks everyone, I just applied a new layer of thermal paste and now it idles at 45.
For future reference, how often should I redo the thermal paste?

You shouldn't have to worry about it for a while unless you start seeing that your temps are going up. Idle temps don't really matter so what are your load temps?

As others have said you're GPU might be over-heating, maybe even the CPU. If your PC is very dusty clean it. If you aren't using a custom PWM fan curve you need to download MSI afterburner and configure one. My GTX 580 was constantly over-heating during gaming sessions until I changed the fan curve to ramp the speeds up at lower temperatures.

That's what the issue was. His fan was already at 100%. He just changed the TIM and it dropped his idle temps to 45C which is a huge drop since originally he was idling at 70C. I'm waiting to see what his load temps are.

OP I would recommend updating your original post to tell everyone the results.
