Okay, so I got my new PC up and running and it had a neat diagnostic tool for Connection, cable check and hardware everything. Cable is fine. Hardware is fine. But Connection it found this: Cannot run the connection test.

"Test details

This adapter is configured to obtain an
IP address automatically but no DHCP server
is present on the network. Windows selected
an IP address using Alternate Private
IP Addressing.
No servers configured.
This test relies on a response from
a gateway, DNS, DHCP or WINS server.
If none of these servers are present
on your network, the test cannot be
run.
Link speed: 10Mbps. The link partner
is not capable of higher speeds. "

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Thanks!

Doesn't look fine to me..

Usually a low link speed like that without reliably receiving traffic is a layer 1 issue somewhere whether it be a NIC, cable or switchport.

Hmm... Well, then my newly built pc, my dads newly built pc, my old laptop, my brothers laptop and my friends laptop is have a broken NIC or switchport. I have 5 cables. All have the same problem. Tested it two days ago. (Btw, tested the software with a broken cable and it detected it straight away)
But it says there is no DHCP present in the network. Could this be the issue? If it is or not, how could I fix it? I am going to check the wall socket soon by an electrician.

This is seriously frustrating. When it worked before a new router I had 70/10 all the time with 10ms ping 1 jitter and 0 packet loss... I just don't understand.

Thanks for answer!

Are you useing 2 routers or just one with wireless onboard ?

Actually 192.168.*.* shows it´s a intranet allmost every router uses it.

Your router is set to 192.168.1.1 and windows uses this as gateway for wireless, what i dont get why your lan is on a diffrent ip like 192.168.225.1 or what it was.

And last screenshot i saw it was 192.168.2.1 as gateway and 192.168.2.2 as local ip

They router should have a DHCP server option and it should serve ip´s in a given range and all ip´s should be 192.168.1.2 -3-4-5-199 or the max could be 253 if i remeber correct 254 and 255 are saved for ipv4 internal stuff.

No idea if windows get´s confused if it´s offerd two gateways and as they router also will offer dns addresses then windows will get completly confused your ipconfig suggest you have no dns server configured.

Search your router for a option called DHCP server, enable it and give it a range from 192.168.1.100-199 that would be the safest.

Also set your nic to autonegotiate link speed.

Get your routers manual and check the features every router should have firewall dhcp etc in.

Open a Browser and put in 192.168.1.1 or see manual for router name could be something like router.ip.

A website should load offering login consult manual or see router sticker for factory password.

Then navigate trough it to get a overview of the settings, in the Network section there should be an option offerd DHCP Server, enable it then it asks for Lease time and IP Range set Lease to 2 weeks or whatever you want, set IP to 192.168.1.100-199.

Find save settiings/reboot router, reset windows settings dunno think it´s ipconfig /releaseall , ipconfig /renew no idea about the commands. then do ipconfig /all each interface should have a line called

DHCP server 192.168.1.1 Autocoonfiguration used
Lease ends in etc etc.

If you cant get DHCP to work try with fixed ip again.

Set your nic to 192.168.1.2
gateway 192.168.1.1

and try wlan 192.168.1.102
gateway 192.168.1.1

not sure about subnet it should be the same your router is in bet it´s 255.255.255.0

Hi! Thanks but that didn't work. So I tried different setting, also didn't work...
So, this is currently how it looks like. Sorry for late answer, too much school and such lately.

Any ideas? On my wireless with a powerfull antenna, but that isn't enough. And I am paying for a 70/10 network.
As you can tell:

The ping is even worse. The pingtest never finished.

fyi: it took over an hour to add these pictures.... and this is wireless. I can't get ethernet to get internet connection, just a split second.

Please! Anyone! Please tell me you know why this is happening!? I've to live with this on a daily basis, it's hell on earth! frown.giffrown.giffrown.giffrown.gif

EDIT:
At first I get a connection and it shows that I get Internett and then ALOT of packages sends and gets recieved, then it suddenly won't connect anymore and says "No Internet connection" and goes down to 10mbps link speed.... It sends between 1 000 000 and recieves about 1 000 000 to 2 000 000 packages and then goes down, as the picture - almost like a reset.
Using static ip. 192.168.1.92.

It goes down through the wall and down in the basement. About 20 - 30 meters. And it is marked with my name so I know it is coming from my room. And plugged straight into an Asus RT-N66u router - three months old with latest .260 firmware.
Not sure if I answered correct, I might a interpret you're question wrong.

EDIT:
It is setup correct, the only thing is that - it worked on my Dlink Dir-655 extreme. But then I got my Asus RT-N66u, and now this piece of ***** won't work....

If you go into basement and plug a Ethernet cable in does it work with Laptop..
I sent you a private pm...

1. If you went into Basement and plugged Laptop into Router and it Internet connection worked.
2. Your problem is the Ethernet cable from Router in Basement to your Bedroom.
3.Replace cable from router to your room...
4. See if that works...
5. Just because it worked before does not mean it is working now.... smile.gif
