[Solved] Crossfired 6950's waiting to start after update

Thread Starter
I finally got my 2nd 6950 back from a family member (he was mass multi-tabling minesweeper with it) and installed it for the 20th BgB coming up. I got it in and crossfired the 2 cards because I don't have a 2nd monitor or a dummy plug to hook onto it. Started BOINC and hit resume and the gpu work units started getting done 1 at a time in around 15 minutes or half the time as before. Shut the computer down overnight and restarted it this AM to see that is was running 1 work unit per card and getting them done in around 30 minutes. The program uploaded the completed work units and now it just says waiting to start and has been saying that for several hours. When it was running 1 per card it said (0.05 + 1 ATI GPU) now it says (0.05 CPU's + 2 ATI GPU's). Running the factory clocks (840/1280) and haven't tried the app_info file. Any thoughts or suggestions??

What did you update? The project or BOINC Manager?

BTW your pic is too small to read.

I meant upload the completed work units, not update the program. My bad.

Looks like you have all your cores working on WU's, can you free up a core for the 6950's to use? What if you changed your settings to use 80% of the processor.

BTW, what version of BOINC are you running? I can't get Moo! to run on my cards at all. app_info file or not.

It's always used 6 cores for 6 cpu work units and it's never paused the gpu units before. Looking into vacating a core for the gpu's. Using version 7.0.28(x64) Thanks for the responses.

Edit: disabled cpu work units entirely and still no change.

Cliffs:

1. Added 2nd 6950 in crossfire
2. was using both gpu's to run 1 work unit
3. restarted computer
4. was then running 1 work unit per gpu
5. uploaded completed work and stopped
6. added app_info file and still won't restart
7. ??????

Any ideas???

Look in the stdoutae.txt file and see if there are any error messages. I think it is located by default in C:\ProgramData\Boinc

Have removed the 2nd 6950 from the pc and it hasn't resumed running gpu work units. I have located the time in the stdoutdae file that the problem began and there is no errors listed.

And as usual with my luck, this picks a great time to happen. biggrin.gif
