Considering a switch to Comcast because of need for faster upload speeds.

Right now we have ATT DSL 3.0 - this is actually the fastest i can get at the house, not even 6.0 DSL available here. So I ma thinking about switching to comcast because of the need for faster upload speeds. I know Comcast is not exactly Comcastic since they have lousy customer no-service. Anyway my question is in regards to price. They do those promo deals like 29.99 for 6 mos and then it jumps up. After the 6 mos what does the rate jump up to. Their fine print seems to indicate there are 2 jumps - once for mos 6-12 and then mos 12- whenever. Also do i pay a rental fee for the modem? Also this would be just internet since we have Dish at home.
Any way to lock in a 30 to 35 dollar rate forever?

there really isn't a way to lock in that low rate permanently. If it's just internet, it depends on what level of service you're paying for. I pay just over $60 a month for 12/2 internet, or their "blast" package ( i think). I also own my modem, and yes they charge to rent, mine was $7 which is why I bought a modem.

Thanks for the info
So once the cost of the modem and taxes are added in its probably something like 70 bucks a month. I see reports online where folks are considering leaving comcast and they get sent to a retention specialist who gives them some kind of deal.

I honestly don't know what customer service rep these guys are talking to. I can't say I've had all genius techs on the phone, but they really haven't given me any problems, and I've had comcast for 4 years now.

Recently comcast upgraded our upstream to around 35Mbps, not sure if that's in all areas or not biggrin.gif Anyway, the support is pretty good from what I've seen. But yeah if you complain, they'll pretty much upgrade you for free or lower your bill.
