Similar setup here, I thought downgrading to an 850 could be enough, but I'm glad I read this post. I'll keep the 1050 right where it is. Post up a little more about the 2 failures you had with the PSUs, if you can.

My setup:

AsRock P67 Extreme4 Gen3
i5-2550k @4.6
2 GTX480 SLI (not overclocked due to heat)
3 hard drives (1 raptor, 2 standard 7200rpm)
2 optical drives
1 fan controller with 6 high power fans (near 1 amp each)
2 Noctua fans powered by the motherboard

I bought an HX850 for a steal on Newegg for about $125 USD. This was in early January. I run/ran them at 800/2000+. My sig rig hasn't changed much since then. I was running a 2600k at that time. Come March, I loaded up BF3 and went to the bathroom while it loaded (I must not have had my SSD yet) and when I returned moments later, my PC had restarted. It got the the Windows boot logo then restarted again. This time it just kept restarting. I pulled it out and tried the paper clip trick. Dead PSU. I RMA'ed it and waited 2 weeks for a new one. That one lasted less then 2 weeks. I called Corsair and asked to be upgraded to the HX1050. They did at no extra charge and sent it with a return label for my second dead 850. I've been running the 1050 rock solid ever since. Now here is the strange part. 2 weeks after I get the 1050, I get another 850. I'm assuming there was some sort of mistake or mix up, but now I have an extra BNIB HX850 laying around. =]

***BTW/completely off topic: Anyone go for that HP website price mishap? I just got an email confirming my order has been canceled frown.gif Bye-bye 7950 + FX 8150

i think in the near :thumb:future as more and more components keep becoming more and more efficient the requirement for high wattage power supplies will go down...

Had a terrible generic 750w, upgraded to a gold 850w (super overkill) as I thought I would need it oneday.

1500W + 750W PSUs, but the 750W is not necessarily needed...
