First Build With 3770k!

Hello Overclockers!

I'm planning my first build pretty soon, and was wondering what you guys think of my potential build!

Case: Corsair Vengeance C70
CPU: Intel i7 3770k
GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 670
Board: Asus Sabertooth Z77 TUF
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600MHz
PSU: Corsair AX 850
HDD: Wesstern Digital Caviar Black 1 TB

I'm looking to overclock in the future, so I'll probably add an H100. Also looking into a 128 GB SSD.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions?redface.gif

Hello and welcome to OCN. You should tell us what do you need your pc for. If its just for gaming you can save some money on cpu, psu and ram and get an ssd and an good aftermarket air cooler or H100, whatever fits you best.

I do plan on gaming on it, but I plan on doing a far amount of video editing on it as well.

Budget? And what games are you going to be playing? Usually it doesn't make much of a difference, but you never know...

I would say you have a great build going on here. Great choice of components and I LOVE the C70 case. I built my friend a computer in it and I must say it is simply great. A couple questions though. Do you plan on going tri SLI ever? If not that power supply is way overkill and can go 650w for single card and 750 if you want SLI. My AX 750 ran dual 670's and a 2500k to 4.8ghz no problem.

Also I think the SSD is a must. smile.gif Some people may disagree but I believe you can get a much better cooling solution then H100 for that price or just a slight bit more.

Dual sli is a possibility down the road. So I guess a 750w PSU will do. What would you suggest instead of a h100?
In all honesty I am simply just not a huge fan of the H100 because I had a dud unit in the past. It could simply be bias as I am sure many had great working units but many also had to RMA and had fan controller issues and whatnot. I upgraded from H60 to H100 and somehow the H100 did not perform nearly as well as the H60. If I were to use a closed loop cooler I would be more inclined to try the thermaltake water 2.0 or an Antech kuhler unit. If you are comfortable with custom loop I would go with this as it has expandability and upgradablity for the future if you so desire to watercool your gpu and is only marginally more expensive and will indefinitely perform better.

for a ssd newegg has a pretty good deal on a 830 right now

for a cooler i would go with a XSPC RASA 750 RS240 its about 30 bucks more than the h100 and requires more work but i think it would be worth it. i was going to add one to my build but ran out of money sadsmiley.gif

EDIT: Just noticed NewHighScore already recomended the rasa..... i second it smile.gif
