Hmmm...if Valve actually is changing the name it must be a pretty large endeavor. I mean, if they operated like other engine developers we would probably be on Source 4.0 by now...maybe more. There have been some rather massive upgrades that I think actually would have warranted increasing the version ID.

So for them to actually change to Source 2.0 must mean something...or else they are looking for attention and they know that Source 2.0 is probably only second to HL2:EP3 or HL3 in terms of attention getting.

Love the idea of Source 2, but why would they release CSGO with just a slightly updated Source 1 engine? It wouldn't make sense, unless Source 2 was coming out in 1-3 years from now...

Am I the only one who's happy with the original Source' progressing as it is? HL2 is still so fun too play and still has wow factors as far as graphics go, then you have portal 1&2 which are just so fun, interesting and again graphically lovely.

Dear Esther is more graphically beautiful than you ever need in a game. It's getting too close too realism with some games that it cant be as fun any more.

I can still play HL1 comfortably and have so much fun.

Yeah, I am in the same boat...I am getting sick of so much emphasis getting put on graphics. I've been finding my self going back to PS1 and PS2 days to find a decent game to play lately...still digging up a SNES game here and there too.

Unfortunately...we are the minority. Most people won't be able to see through the graphics and give a game a chance. The only new PC games I've enjoyed as of late have been low budget inde games. The Witcher 2 was The last larger title PC game I enjoyed I think.

Guys i'm with you all on the point that companies need to emphasize on game-play and story first and foremost, but for god's sake, source is just old and outdated. This is Valve were talking about here, they have the money and resources to develop a more modern engine, no excuses for them not to be working on source 2. They need to start keeping up with the times especially now that next gen console Hardware is around the corner.
