Upgrade from 2G to 8G with a few questions

So I've currently got crucial 2x1G sticks running at 1600 with 8-8-8-24 timings. Just for fun i decided to see how 1333 would run and I got it to run at 6-6-6-18 timings with a small v boost. I can't really tell the difference between the two what so ever, so I was wondering if it would be a smarter choice to just go with 1333 based ram and tighten it up more or go with 1600 based ram and if I ever want to drop it to 1333 I can. This is what I'm looking at:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231400

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231402

I don't expect speeds to go much above 1600 due to it being an unlocked chip, I've tried these sticks and they can't even hit 1666. I'm pretty sure it's the IMC because I had to up it (volt) for stability even at 1600, though it runs fine and has for a while (never had a crash unless I OC it). So that's my current predicament, I'm leaning towards teh 1600 as it's only $5 more and I could probably just downlclock it to 1333 if I ever wanted to test that out. Anyways, insight would be appreciated.

System is current in sig.

Personally id go with 1600Mhz as it's a good all rounder, it offers slightly better performance and OC headroom ( depending on CPU & mobo of course ). Price wise there is only a small difference, but if you did want to save a few dollars 1333Mhz RAM is still good. The difference between 1333 and 1600 is small but worth it IMO. 8Gbs is a good amount too and will cover most apps and current games, i only use 16Gb because of Graphic work being memory intensive.

You done it the right way to run 1600 ram down clock it and run tighter timming if you where to run str8 1333 you find it alot harder to tighted up the timming

Allright, so I'll go with 1600 8-8-8-24, it's only $5 more.

Update: Got bad ram, already got them RMA'd. Anyone have anything to say about mushkin ram? Would I be better off doing a full refund and just getting something else, from what I read (both here and onilne) they were supposed to be good. currently I'm just doing a return, advice welcome.
