Oh you already have Windows 7 installed. You need to do a registry edit first before you can change the SATA mode.

You have to install Windows in the SATA mode that you want to use, so it should of been RAID from the start. But yeah, the registry edit ^ works too if you don't want to reinstall.

Most of the newer controllers/drivers can enable TRIM for a single drive on the RAID-enabled ports. This is true for intel controllers, AMD I'm not as certain. You may want to google to be sure, but if your controller w/ current driver can enable TRIM on a single drive while RAID is enabled, you would:

1: Attach ONLY the SSD.
2: Set the controller to RAID mode.
3: Have the "F6" RAID driver on hand on a thumb drive, you may need it during windows installation
4: Install Windows to the SSD.
5: Update the RAID driver if you didn't use the most current "F6" driver before Windows installation
6: Add and configure the two 500GB drives.

Then just make folders on your 2x500 drive for your libraries, and point the file storage libraries to those folders as the default save location.

Honestly when you can grab a 120GB SSD on sale (or a 240) you'll be much better off. 60GB will pretty much only allow you a game or two after you have apps and everything else on there, and game loads are one of the best things about an SSD.

Not sure about his chipset, but once the SB950 southbridge drivers are loaded for the RAID firmware, TRIM goes haywire. It could be a YMMV thing, I haven't experimented with it at all on my 890 chipset. Not 100% on if "all" TRIM commands fail to work, but the manual ones definitely do.

Edited for derp: It may actually be a YMMV thing, as the UD3 from my sig rig had defective SATA subsystems, so. That could have been a cause. I really am tired of testing things though, ol' faithful backup board hah. Also, I am using a different SSD, one that includes a 'toolkit' as it were, with the RAID firmware enabled, that was what failed to work, no manual optimization.

I used this when changing from AHCI to RAID to eliminate the boot loop.

i did exactly this and still get a boot loop. loaded the raid drivers right before the windows install, it installs windows and then just boot loops over and over again.
