That's great but even so, I question the sound and heat output of an air cooled card running at 44% higher core clock. You can easily achieve this with a 7970 with enough temperature, sound, overclocking headroom to surpass 1200+ MHz. A $360 card running at those speeds doesn't really paint the entire picture. My 1300MHz core 1500 MHz memory Asus DirectCUII 7850 easily matches stock to lightly overclocked performance of a 7870 / 7950 but it screams and runs warm doing so. Mind you, this card is running 50% faster than core reference.

The validity of this thread is lost and I apologize to the OP and am positive that the 7870 will fulfill his requirements.

Go for what's in your budget, though if you're getting close to $300 you might as well go for the 7950.

correct. If you want to keep the card for a couple of years the minimum card for your resolution is HD 7950 OC.

You could also get used cards. I got my 7950 for $280 used and has been running my Eyefinity setup like a champ. I know the MSI TF3 had a rebate when it was $330 and it ended up being 300 or 310 after rebate. Amazon had it at that price and there was no tax and free shipping.

When a new Gigabyte HD 7950 OC can be had for USD 330 after rebate I would advise not to get a used card.

If you want to overclock with voltage increase the Gigabyte Windforce or Sapphire Dual X coolers are better than MSI Twin Frozr

You're not considering the $8 shipping fee and the $25~30 tax fee, which would bring the total cost close to $400. Rebates are nice, but not everyone gets them.

As far as getting used cards, it was only a suggestion since that was the path I took and this was when the 7950s were still around $370~400, so I saved myself $100. Since prices of the cards have gone down, so would the used prices.
