H80 on 3570K 4.0ghz

Thread Starter
I'm running my 3570k at 4ghz at 1.176 volts on a h80, and my temps at load are a high 70-76c

Is that normal? i reseated the the pump 3 times with no difference in temperatures so i ruled out that i may have mounted it wrong.
My idles are 37,35,43,42 why such differences in temps?

I would say normal

Unfortunately these Ivy Bridge chips run hot.

Are you running the h80 on high? Are all the 3 leds on, on the cooler?

That voltage is way too high only for 4Ghz. You really shouldn't go above 1.1V when setting the LLC at it's max. I got my 3570K @ 4Ghz stable at 1.030V.

Although even for just 1.176V, you're getting way higher temps than normal. What are the ambients of your room?

Thanks for the fast reply guys.

Yes my H80 IS running with the led all they way up and im using a push/pull with two sp120 and the button on the H80 doesn't seem to affect the fans speed, my room temps are around 25c

The fans you are using are not the stock fans right?

I also installed 2 very popular Noctua fans instead, they run MUCHHHHHH more quiet but the stock fans kept the H80 cooler few degrees.

At the end I prefered silence. I really did not need an airplane in my room.

75-80 Degrees is a tad hot for a room. Reminds me of my girlfriends little brother's room. His PC (That I built for him a month ago) gets all the way up to 80C with a H20 620 and a i5 2500K OC'd to somewhere around 4.3-4.5Ghz.

Get that room down to 68-72 Fahrenheit. (20 to 21C). And make sure it's a Chilly 68. Not a warm 68.

EDIT: Also, if you have hard-wood floors, set the PC on the ground. Heat rises, you know.

Yea the fans are not stock they are corsair branded SP-120's, yea and my room is a bit hot, it is summertime here in NY.

I lowered the voltage to 1.100, gonna take a quick prime test to see temps

Edit- Decreasing voltage brought down the temps some, just under 70c for two cores and the others at 60c why are the temps so diffrent on the other two cores?

for that voltage and ambient temperature, those temps are not bad seems like they are just a little high.

How did you apply thermal paste and what kind are you using? also how is the airflow in your case?

side note: I think thats about the voltage I'm sending mine at full load and its clocked at 4.4ghz at the moment.

im using mx-4 and just a rice grain size in the middle, the H80 IS pushing air out the back of case. by decreaing the voltage i bout the temps down but there is as much as a 10c diffence between the cores

core 0 and 3 are at 61 on load
core 1 and 2 are at 69-70
