[TPU] Dell Ultrasharp U2713HM Monitor Leaked - Page 2

Thank you guys! Wasn't 100% sure since it said "matte black screen surface" so the "black" part made me unsure whether they are talking about the screen or the housing. But if "M" is for matte - great!

Anyway, seems I'll be playing the waiting game again. The other option is to go all in and buy U3011. Hopefully, I'll manage to stay sane and not spend too much lol.

About questions how someone can prefer matte - most content I view is of darker nature (gaming/movies), so the reflections are MUCH more annoying than the AG filter.

But to each his own. I'm just happy we're getting another model. thumb.gif

"....not spend too much"

i have really been considering buying 2 more u2412m's..... but that would likely require me to get a second card.... that's a bankroll
i too question the stability of my own sanity...

The matte coating is less of a distortion than seeing my face in the monitor.

Also, this looks nice, but I really wish they'd release a 16:10 version.

Please tell me they removed the HORRIBLE anti glare coating that the u2711 had?

Anti glare is fine, but the anti glare coating on the u2711/u3011 was the thickest i've ever seen in my life. So thick that it creates a "sparkle / dirty" effect on white backgrounds...

I use samsung PLS screens which have anti glare but it is nowhere near as thick, and doesn't affect image quality..

I think you're confused. The issue isn't anti glare, I want anti glare as well. The issue is that most IPS panels use
*very very thick* anti glare
that is far thicker than what is present on most LED panels, it is so thick that it causes
image quality degradation. Having used the u3011 extensively, what you see is on complete white backgrounds you will
see a "shimmery/crystal" effect that is hard to not notice.

For this reason like I mentioned above - I use samsung PLS screens instead which are basically identical to IPS but do
not employ the super thick/aggressive AG coating which the u2711 does.

The only information that can actually be confirmed is that the U2713HM is coming and that it will feature a WQHD resolution, HDMI, DVI, VGA and DisplayPort. The tiny thumbnail suggests that it will be aestheticlaly similar to the U2711 - it appears to have slightly more angular corners than the U2412M and U2312HM as featured on the opening post in this thread. Dell sometimes use thumnails as a placeholder but there is certainly no information out there regarding the screen suface so it shouldn't be assumed at this stage. The colour gamut is also an open question although the backlight will almost certainly be WLED. My take on this here.

If this follows suit with the price compared to the u2410/u2412m, I may just have to get one.

Normally I'd agree, but I find that pixel heights of 800 and 1600 are very annoying for anything that runs at a lower resolution, since it's not a multiple of any common resolution - you'd need 3840x2400 to get around that issue with a 16:10 display.

Of course, if you do nothing but desktop work & productivity, then this isn't a problem. thumb.gif
