Also, is there any word on how the AG of the U2713HM's will be?

I have a u2711 and 3 LG LED IPS screens and I prefer non-LED as the bleeding is very noticeable with Black screens. Like when the Star Wars intro plays, or a space game. Its kind of like the CCFL bleeding the u2711 currently has but worse.

As far as picture quality/color gamut, the IPS226V and U2711 are nearly Identical. Its like trying to tell the difference between a Sony Bravia and a Samsung, sure there are differences, but they are not noticeable unless you look really hard. To the avg person it is identical, and they cannot tell the difference.

I expect when RGB LED lighting becomes used and the edgelit LED goes away then LED will look better than S-IPS.

I've been trying to pick between either one of these 27" ultrasharps, or Samsungs new expensive 27". The one with the all glass screen. The Series 9 27(insert random numbers and letters).

As silly as it is, the stands and extra USB/inputs, and card reader on the ultrasharps are REALLY making me learn towards that. The only reason I'm considering the Samsung one is for the glass screen.

If there was a 27" ultrasharp with a glass screen for the same price, my mind would be made up instantly. ;]

The problem is that you are comparing a budget LED-backlit model with a fairly 'premium' CCFL-backlit model. You shouldn't base your thoughts on this one closed-off comparison. The Dell U2311H for example was very bad in terms of uniformity and much worse in general than the U2312HM that is of course WLED-backlit. The U2713HM will hopefully not suffer from any particular uniformity issues although there will always be inter-unit variation on that kind of thing.

And just to correct you, the colour gamut of the U2711 and IPS226V are completely different. The IPS226V covers (slightly under) sRGB or around 72% NTSC whereas the U2711 covers ~110% NTSC. In the sRGB emulation mode things are more comparable of course but that is not what the U2711 is limited to and one of the prime reasons that this isn't going to be a replacement for the U2711 but rather a complimentary model. Just like the U2412M was to the U2410.

I'm going to stick w/ 1920x1080 until 3840x2160 monitors come out.

should be the next TV standard & it will scale correctly w/ 1080p material w/o causing blur through interpolation.

By making 1 1080p pixel 4 pixels?

Wow 20-50k for one of them. Maybe in 10 years we will see them at 1.3k.
