I have a u2711 and 3 LG LED IPS screens and I prefer non-LED as the bleeding is very noticeable with Black screens. Like when the Star Wars intro plays, or a space game. Its kind of like the CCFL bleeding the u2711 currently has but worse.
As far as picture quality/color gamut, the IPS226V and U2711 are nearly Identical. Its like trying to tell the difference between a Sony Bravia and a Samsung, sure there are differences, but they are not noticeable unless you look really hard. To the avg person it is identical, and they cannot tell the difference.
I expect when RGB LED lighting becomes used and the edgelit LED goes away then LED will look better than S-IPS.
