Why don't Mhill2029 and Masked converse privately. We don't need to waste our time reading those useless arguments that are going nowhere. George answered questions from previous posts.

I'm going to run out of popcorn at this rate...
Very nice PSU from Corsair, BTW.

Indeed he did, but obviously Masked is far wiser and knowledgable and picking up my phone will change everything apparantly.

Ok everyone, here's the TLDNR of this thread

Corsair: We released this badass PSU, we made one small mistake that applies to 1% of our target demographic (theres actually dozens of reasons to have a 1200w psu without quad card SLI.) and hey, we're fixing it!

Masked: I know everything about how communication works because I run a company that in my mind is the biggest thing ever.

Mhill2029: I just want to quad sli with my current psu!

Now, does anyone have any opinions on this regarding a corsair link setup? I'd love to hear them as I'm considering buying it to link into a corsair link rig.

Edit: Oh and masked, I certainly wouldn't be preaching professionalism if I were you, no one else here is representing a supposed corporation with horrendous attitudes and immense amounts of condescension.

Good question, although it's more likely he's an employee rather than a employer based on how he comes across from his knowledge and manner. He's full of it, and is convinced he's right and knows everything and if you make a statement against his logic he becomes sarcastic/rude and will argue for the sake of it. Just check out any thread from him responding, doesn't matter what the product is, he's either tested it, or owned it and refers to the "office" or "his company" on a regular basis to enforce trust in his words. I mean he owns a company, he must be right!!!!

There's a lot of kids like him on the internet, armed with google and wiki they are formidable lol

He's going on my ignore list, i suggest others do the same.

Just the fact he mentions it in every other post makes me pretty sure he's full of it. We get it bro you have a job. You are so so so credible.

I hope he doesn't run anything because his people skills are awful. There was really nothing in this thread to even argue about.

I think Corsair, like a few psu makers, freaked when four gtx 480 started tripping breakers in homes biggrin.gif. "Since 1200w is not enough, lets stick with 3-way sli/crossfire." Well, graphics cards got a lot more efficient since then and 1200-1250w is enough for a modern 4-way system. My other theory is that they paid for this modular design (I think to Ultra) and changing it might have meant a new license or something. I'm sure there were probably more or different reasons, but that's the way I see it. If the AX1200 can handle 4-way 680s, cool, should be able to imo. Just don't try four 480s wink.gif. I tried it and it scared the heck of me using a 1200w CM gold unit. Got an ST1500 and that was fine biggrin.gif

If you look further back in the thread a page or two i posted a link from the Corsair site demonstrating the performance and capability of the AX1200. It was running 4x GTX480's and pulling 1500+ watts and the PSU was solid. Considering this particular review was actually used directly on Corsairs site in a way to showcase it's abilities, makes it even more strange that no cable was ever considered. Even in the review Molex to PCI-E was used.

I didn't bother reading the pages just the review. Maybe the lawyers stepped in and said "no four way" will have a lot of dead quad 480 systems to contend with. Sometimes, companies have to make tough decisions, even if its not in the interest of enthusiast but for the preservation of the company.

I know Corsair will under estimate their psu. i know the HX850w was able to handle 1kw comfortably. I've read a other psu's are slightly under-rated.

Did Corsair oc the 480s in their ax1200 test? My CM 1200w was able to conjour up four 480s at stock clocks but it was too close to run it when overclocking. I pulled ~1750w max at the socket while benchmarking. The ST1500 was fine and dandy smile.gif
