Will replacing thermal compound help on Stock HD 6850? - Page 3

Yep they are overclocked, core from 775Mhz to 825Mhz and memory to 1050Mhz from 1000Mhz, the temps were not worrying me, never hit 90oC, it just liked the 80's alot but the noise is deafening when over 65% fan, normal desktop stuff the PC is pretty much silent, just after around 20 mins on a game it sounds like there is a cleaner company in my PC vacuuming..

I personally wouldn't like them temps my opinion drop the overclock i doubt with 2 you would really need it either that or put your fan profile on max and play games with earphones you could replace the TIM but that does void your warranty but if you go that route you may as well invest in some better cooling though i wouldn't personally do it but there are some great aftermarket GPU coolers out there thumb.gif

I was looking at this but non adjustable fans, if if emits a irritating drone thats £60 down the drain, as my card shut up when just doing general stuff.

pretty expensive and only 2 fans http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?rlz=1T4ADRA_enGB477GB477&q=arctic+cooling's+accelero+xtreme+plus&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=9987875123560543052&sa=X&ei=wTYhUOLHJ5Ds0gXCioCQAQ&ved=0CGYQ8wIwAg i know this is a good silent cooler that is if you really want to go that route it could cost you more if you do it wrong

They are only 6-8 months old, just get a 12cm or 14cm fan for side first. It should help.

If you can find this in Europe:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186052
http://www.arctic.ac/en/sources/dealer-details/dealer/europe/united-kingdom/specialtech.htm?tx_diashoplocator_pi3[backpid]=11&cHash=4bce0cac336f32db86327be78add0909
It should be enough for 6850.

I will defiantly try a new side fan first, reapply Tim since it's open.. If it's still loud I may have to purchase a couple of the Arctic coolers accelero`s.. In the UK cheapest I can find is £100 for a pair, which is quite pricey
