btw, I've contacted Razer support to ask if I can buy just that top plastic cover, said that mine broke and would like to replace it. Here's the answer:

I use mine quite a bit on a daily basis and it feels good as new. The writing on the keys has begun to fade but that's just because it's paint and not an etching.

I've had my Blackwidow Ultimate for a year and a half now and It looks just as good as when I bought it, save for some dust and fingerprints. I haven't noticed even a single change in the performance/appearance of this keyboard.

I actually got the idea from someone else on here, but I cannot seem to find their thread for the life of me.

Anyways, that being said, I wouldn't say Razer is a total BS company. Yes, it has its shortcomings, as does every company. Some more than others. But there is no debating their deathadder mouse has been one of the most popular and most well made mice out there. Theres always an exception, but I think the majority of people who get one love it. I had the mac version, and then upgrading to the newest generation one, and both have been going strong. The mac one has lasted me 6 years and hasn't even had wear on the exterior.

I'll admit, yes, going for a razer is more of a gamble then a logitech product, or a filco board, etc, but they have been trying, and despite their downfalls, they still sell some good product.

For what it's worth, my BW (non ultimate) has been holding up fine for a little over a year now. That's even after spilling water and tea on it (promptly followed by drying). I tried to baby it as much as i could and keep it free from food debris and liquids, but **** happens anyway.

The one problem i had with it from the start was the backspace key was "mushy" when pressed off-centered. But oddly enough, that issue seems to have nearly gone away. I can tell it's still there, but definitely not as apparent. I could tell the resistance decreased because of a quick and dirty force gauge i made, LOL. That's how much it bothered me. As of now, I like this keyboard more than when i bought it just because of that alleviated issue.

I've had mine for 1 year and 3 months now. This is the non ultimate version.

Surprisingly, I've had only one issue, and on occasion either the A or D button will stick. This is very obvious when playing FPS but it can be fixed by pressing it again. It's not a deal breaker since I'm surprised I've had it for so long (and hadn't gotten anything else yet) but I am currently looking for a new keyboard. This keyboard has been under heavy use since purchase, and so far even the most used keys have barely any fade at all. I've also been very careful about what comes near my keyboard. I know a lot of things could've gone wrong, but as far as I know this is as good as it gets.

I've owned mine for 7 months with no issues. The only issues I had is the right shift key had some sort of pencil shaving like thing under it that made it feel weird to press. And my backspace key is stiffer if you push it on the left side. AND THIS GLOSS FFFFFFFFF. No keys have faded at all except for some stain on W since I play a lot of FPS

I might save up for Ducky though, just because I love the basic look
