On topic: I want to see how much MS merges everything they're doing with the new xbox, I presume they'll let you use skydrive to store game saves
PS1 and 2 beat all but Sega to the market.. and they don't really count. No one puts the Dreamcast in with the other 3 and same goes for the Saturn. Sega got smashed.

Says who? I consider the Saturn to go right along with the PS1.

The Dreamcast was a competitor to the N64.

sega consoles had some powerful hardware but their real downfall was timing, and just a bit of bad luck, DC was 1999, PS2 2000. then later came the gamecube and xbox, if dreamcast had been released a bit later or earlier it may have stood a chance, then again bill gates was willing to sacrifice a few billion dollars just to get into the console business, so it was inevitable one of the companies would flop. I do find it somewhat funny that the 360 controller closely resembles that of a smaller DC controller with a second analog stick... almost like that was microsofts way of saying pwnt thumb.gif

Timing was only one of SEGA's many many issues lol.

Also to add to your controller comparison, what is that printed on the front of the Dreamcast?

I believe they already had some dealings before Xbox came about.

2 more years and itll be double. its because the original xbox had pretty bad graphics even then, and people are mostly fine with the 360's graphics. there was no demand, so why would they make a new console if everyone was ok with the visuals?

Direct X on the dreamcast lol, I guess that's where microsoft got the skills and confidence to make its own console. they were actually going to call it the "Direct-x Box" but decided to shorten the name.

The original xbox had the best graphics on the console market at that time, ps2 and gamecube didn't even compare. 360 came out in 2005, its been about 7 years now. one more year would make it double the lifespan of the xbox (2001), and there's always a demand for the latest and greatest technology, its not just graphics, its innovation, bigger environment's, more physics, the chance for completely new engines, and new IP's, more creativity all around, instead of stale rehashes, a market full of sequels. alot of this doesn't apply to just consoles, it affects pc too, most pc games are ports.

Haha yeah, Gates borrowed a lot from the Dreamcast's controller design. It's almost a carbon copy when you look at the button layout and the way he implemented the memory cards.
