Some Newbie Questions

Thread Starter
Just to get right to them.

1. Are there any EK Supremacy reviews that directly compare them between the HF and/or the Raystorm? I haven't had much luck finding any. :x

2. Is this actually enough to hold up a MCP655? It doesn't seem like it'd be very "structurally sound". If not, could you recommend something that will? I'd prefer to not have to drill holes in my case. redface.gif

3. Is this okay to use in a loop? I see it's made partly of aluminum which I know is a big no-no, lol, but it's only for a casing so it should be fine, right?

4. More of a "design" question. I have a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H motherboard(black PCB, blue heatsinks), will be getting a Gun-Metal Switch 810(dark grey/black) soon, I'm getting blue Monsoon compression fittings, and most of my cabling will be blue sleeved. I'm really not sure if I should get blue or black or some other color tubing. I kind of feel that blue tubing would be a bit overkill and also detract from the awesome fittings, yet black tubing would be kind of boring. Any ideas are very much appreciated for this. thumb.gif

Thanks! I'll surely have some more questions on the way. biggrin.gif

1. The only review I can find is this for the EK Supremacy cpu block.

2. I wouldn't be bother with that velcro you have linked there. Take a look at this, this, this, and this. Also, you might want to take a look at the res/pump combo.

3. Its just a styling kit for your D5 pump. It has nothing to do with you loop. But you going to need this, to go with that pump mod.

4 . This is left up to you. You have to figure out what works color wise for your build.

Good luck.

White Tubing always looks good smile.gif Or figure out the 3 primary colors in your build, and have the tubing match the least-common of the three. It will make the third color "pop" and give more visual depth to the build.

Good luck.

1: Yeah, that and another one comparing it to an LTX is all I could find.

2: Since I'm drilling holes now, is there a particular reason why I can't use the bracket that came with the casing or you're just giving me more options(which I appreciate if that's the case)? :x

3. I figured as much but better safe than sorry. And thanks for linking that top. Both them will make the pump look so much better. biggrin.gif

4. It's just so hard to form an opinion on this without it in front of you. Which I guess is part of the reason you can't help either. XD

Yeah, I was actually thinking since there's a touch of white on the mobo heat sink, I'd switch the sleeving to white and get white or maybe even just clear tubing. Not sure just yet. Will have to look at more pictures and try to piece it all together in my head.

Thanks both of you for the help!

You dont really need to drill holes into your case. Those links I sent you for the pump mount should give you some idea where you can mount the pump without drilling. Also what type of case are you going to be using for your build?
I like white tubing, you could also go clear. Or you could get grey tubing, not as striking as the black but it matches the case.

Oh, I'm sorry. Should've looked at it more closely. redface.gif I'm going to be getting a Switch 810. Plan on using one of those cylinder tank reservoirs placing it between the motherboard and the drive bays with the pump slightly under it. Don't have the case yet so I was just assuming I'll have to drill at least some holes.

How about trying clear tubing with Ice Dragon Coolant or Mayhems Ice White.

Well if you going to do that, then you might not need those mounts. Because usually cylinder tanks like EK, Bitspower, or StealthRes should come with mounts (that you can mount to your case). And you can just attach the pump with the pump top under the res.

Was actually just talking about this with a friend of mine. I can't really justify the cost when I can get the same result for much cheaper in the long run with tubing and res LEDs.

Well that solves that then. smile.gif Was planning on a Bitspower. Thanks!
