66-core Xeon processor 136 Gbytes of memory

ScaleMP virtualizes dual Xeon E5-2600 processors with 128 Gbytes and a 50-core Xeon Phi coprocessor board with 8 Gbytes of memory, making it appear to programmers as a virtual SMP with a 66-core Xeon processor and 136 Gbytes of memory. Source: ScaleMP

You think it can calculate addition/subtraction? lachen.gif

Impressive, indeed! thinking.gif

I would like to see benchmarks though.... the latency difference between local memory and over PCIe is magnitudes.

This also does not solve the issue that Xeons support richer instruction sets than Xeon Phi: http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2012/7/13/xeon-phi-lacks-binary-compatibility2c-breaks-amd64-conventions.aspx

Folding would not really benefit from this because it already is designed for distributing computing....

you make no sense?.. 66 x86 cores is alot of power to harness(no different than a 4p Opteron system), even if these cores are simple x86 cores, they are still x86 cores, the system(linux) sees them as a huge computer even if you only have one socket populated(scaleMP only support 2 sockets and above) say you populate one socket with a hexacore xeon and use the rest Xeon Phi cores to do lots of multi threaded work, these apps will not have to be changed at all, they will see these Xeon Phi cores as just normal cores thanks to ScaleMP virtual SMP system, so yeah you will be able to fold and use the 136 GB of memory
