Just as an aside, your HX1000 is essentially two seperate 500W units in one PSU so if the load isn't balanced well across them then it will overload one of the units. None of Corsair's high end PSUs are particularly bad but the HX1000 does have that one annoying quirk and you're not the first person to have issues running tri-SLI on it.
If you balance the load across the 12V rails better it would probably work but their documentation explaining that isn't great if I remember correctly. (I looked it up because I was considering it a while ago)

I got the wiring diagram when I first bought the HX1000 and made sure to balance the load. But thanks for the heads up smile.gif Just got my shipping notice and should have it tomorrow. I really appreciate all the help in making this purchase smile.gif

New Seasonic received and installed. Two quick questions, the minute I start my pc the fan kicks on very very slowly. I thought it wasn't supposed to do that. Not a biggie just curious.

Now the issue I'm more concerned with. Upon start my 12 volt line according to my meter is 12.091 firing up Heaven benchmark it varies from 11.074-11.038. When it below 11.050 the ps makes a very shrill sound, not loud but a very high and annoying sound. With the volt drop and the sound should I pack it back up and return it?

If you're reading under 11.1V, you need to replace the meter and/or the power supply. You're measuring from a molex or something?

Spurious high-pitched noises sometimes go away after a few cycles, loading it up a few times. It can warrant an RMA if it bothers you, but it's not an indication of a problem.

I'm taking the reading directly from a molex connections. I have a second meter that I'll use to verify. Just have to find it, haven't used it in years. The noise has seemed to quiet down as you suggested. I'll find my other meter and post back.

Took new measurements and its showing 11.71-11.67. Using the Asrock monitoring software I have 12.001 at idle and 11.608 under load. The noise is almost completely gone. So looks like I'm all set and am happy finally smile.gif mikeaj thanks for the suggestion of trying another meter. I never ever mistrusted my Fluke but looks like its time for a recalibration. Just had it tested before state inspections at my previous job. For some reason its adding one to many zeros.

Well been gaming for a few hours and I got to say after a somewhat rocky start I'm really impressed with this ps. I actually read the manual and set it to hybrid and the fan stopped spinning. This is easily the quietest and coolest running unit I've ever owned. If anyone else has been thinking about getting one I say do it smile.gif Thanks again for all the support.
