Also wondering who made that barb.

If you want a quicker way to get your components dry, and safely, wrap a paper towel full of rice (uncooked, of course), and tie it up with a rubber band and place it on different areas to dry your components. Rice absorbs water really well, and some places there will still be some liquid where you think there may not be, even after a few days.

Dont move away from watercooling! I understand why you would, but please, no. Its like when people build A PC, a part goes out, and they say "Well, every brand fails like this I am sure, so I will just buy a cyberpower". EK really sucks now adays, you shouldnt have gone with them in the first place, lol. BUT, some anti conductive coolant would have made this not happen. I truly feel sorry for you, thats $400 at least in damage. mad.gif

Blimey EK will be the getting blame for world famine soon. How exactly is that failed barb anything to do with them? My one year old nickel plated EK CPU and GPU blocks are looking fine here.

That Taco Bell avatar makes me wish I could get one of their Nacho or Burritos meals in the UK; they do have a few store but nearest is a 90mile round trip mad.gif

Good luck with the equipment as there was no power every chance it will be ok, be patient.
It might have been overtightened, or maybe it had some kind of manufacturing fault. It doesn't appear to have been a metal fatigue crack, so it was most likely a pre-existing crack that spread.

Really? the only things I've heard that people don't like were the bad nickel coatings, which were fixed, and their new water block designs, which I like.

On the topic of short circuits, does anyone know if it would theoretically be possible to saturate water with a non-ionic compound, so that it could not dissolve any ionic compounds and become conductive?

Really? The words Taco Bell make me feel ill; maybe I just have too much respect for my digestive system. tongue.gif

Sorry to hear that. Where did you get it from? CL? Cheers.
maybe bake it on low for a bit to speed up the drying? like 150 or something?
I did the same thing while setting up mine, forgot to put the thread plugs on one of my rad (it was multi port rad) spilled my coolant all over my GPU/Mobo, (using Ice Dragon coolant) went to pick up my air cans, used some paper towels for the coolant pockets that I can wipe off, blow all the coolant off the mobo and gpu with the air can thoroughly and voila it was dried up w/ in 1hr and up and running again. thats why I love air cans, they are not just for dusts. its for spills too xD

a garbage bag with a few slits in it with your components inside duct taped to a hair dryer set to warm would also work really nicely, i did that for a few cell phones that got dropped in buckets of mop water

fun times
