I'm not saying that hitting 5Ghz is impossible on Ivy man. But it actually is highly unlikely with every other chip. OC'ing potential varies from chip to chip. I hit 5.1Ghz on the first day of my 3570K, now I can break 4.9Ghz. Even at 5Ghz for a non-golden chip, temps aren't good at all, this is for a fact.

Definetely (says a person with the worst 3930k in the history of ever)

Every 3770k runs that hot mate, why do you think people are delidding them -.-
My temps are normal for this chip under water if not a little better than normal.
Go look at all the reviews.

didn't you kill one? If the lid isn't soldered and has crappy TIM in between the lid and core how did you manage to kill it? I don't see it being any hard than deliding a socket 478.

I scratched the PCB once and then scratched the actual die on my 2nd one.
This third one has proven to be a fantastic OCer and i'm not taking the chance to de-lid again cause incase you havn't gathered.... i Freeking suk at it. rolleyes.gif
The temp drop i was expecting on my old chip was 25c and that chip used to hit 105c in 2 minutes on prime 95 @ 4.8ghz using 1.42v, and thats how much volts it needed.
This chip does 4.8ghz @ 1.288v and because of that alone, i have gotten my 20-25c temp drop, so its almost like i succesfully delidded my last chip.
@ 1.288v, i'm not breaking 85c using prime. In BF3 is even better, not breaking 55c.

You really need to to do at least 18+ hours of the latest Prime95 custom blend run with 90% of your ram. And at least 10 passes with the latest Intel Burn Test at the maximum stress level before declaring stability.

I have a great chip as well, but I am still struggling to stabilize it (due to pushing my memory quite a bit). At some settings it would pass Prime95 for hours but would not even do 3-4 passes of IBT. And vise versa, at other settings it would pass IBT with flying colors, but would not pass 3 hours of Prime95.

I reckon it will prolly need 1.29-1.3v for an 8 hr blend.

It is pretty golden is it? Because you obviously know what constitutes a golden cpu don't you (nobody who knows anything about CPU overclocking on this forum considers 5 mins prime95 even remotely stable).

There's a guide in my sig if you need help on stability testing your cpu.

Also why are you saying u mirin? Do you even go to the gym? Zyzz didn't sit on his computer all the time, he actually worked out.

No stress test is better than BF3, duh!

What makes yours the worst? I saw you had a 3.7GHZ clock and that chip is an animal anyway.

18 hours is too little, i say 72 hours.biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif
Guys, come on, why in hell you need to run prime95 for 18 hours?
Are you doing some Area51 projects which needs ultimate stability?
